Is Asbestos Harmful?Three Major Health Effects Associated with Asbestos Exposure
Asbestos exposure is accountable for nearly five percent of all diagnosed cases of lung
cancer & 4,800 Americans lose their lives to asbestos-related lung cancer every year.
Every year, between 2.5K - 3K people develop Mesothelioma in the U.S., most of whom
have been in regular contact with asbestos in the workplace several decades ago.
There have been 20,317 Asbestosis deaths between 1999 & 2013 in the U. S. Because
the symptoms of this condition are very similar to those of more common respiratory
diseases, asbestosis cases might be severely underreported.
“In the U.S. any building or material manufactured or refurbished before the
year 2004 may contain asbestos in the building
materials.”
