DNA ReplicationDuring replication, the molecule splits into two strands
Each half serves as a template to make a new, whole molecule
When we make a new strand, we call it the complimentary strand!
Step 1DNA Helicase (an ENZYME!) “unzips” DNA
down the middle
Step 2New bases are laid down according to the
patter on each side of the split DNA strand. The job of DNA Polymerase is to add new
nucleotides to the DNA!
Step 3Each new strand of DNA is “zipped” back up.
You now have two strands of DNA, each containing one piece of the old DNA and one piece of the new DNA

polymers)DNA Polymerase •End in what 3 letters?
•“-ase”!
