10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.11. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.12. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. The radio waves generated by the product may affect the operation of the pacemaker.b) Keep the product away from the location of the pacemaker by at least 22 cm. The radio waves generated by the product may affect the operation of the pacemaker.c) Turn off the digital media frame power inside hospitals and other medical facilities or near electrically operated medical equipment. The radio waves generated by the product may negatively affect medical equipment, causing malfunction and eventual accident.d) Turn off the digital media frame power near automatic doors, fire alarms and other automatic control equipment. The radio waves generated by the product may negatively affect such equipment, causing malfunction and eventual accident.e) Turn off the digital media frame power on airplanes or in other locations where the product may cause radio interference. The radio waves generated by the product may negatively affect equipment, causing malfunction and eventual accident. For details, follow the instructions given by each airline.f) If any nearby equipment experienced radio interference or any other problem when the digital media frame is used, turn off the digital media frame power. The radio waves generated by the product may negatively affect nearby equipment, causing malfunction and eventual accident.

PRECAUTIONS

NOTES ON HANDLING

● Do not shock the LCD screen. It may cause unit damage and malfunction.● When transporting the digital media frame, the original shipping carton and packing materials come in handy. For maximum protection, repack the unit as it was originally packaged at the factory.

● Do not use volatile liquids, such as insect spray, near the digital media frame. Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the digital media frame for a long time. They will leave marks on the finish.● When the digital media frame is not in use, be sure to turn off the power.● If you do not use the digital media frame for a long period, the unit may not function properly in the future. Turn on and use the digital media frame occasionally.

NOTES ON LOCATING

● When you place this digital media frame near a TV, radio, or VCR, the playback picture may become poor and the sound may be distorted. In this case, move the digital media frame away from the TV, radio, or VCR.

NOTES ON CLEANING

● Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use any type of solvent, such as thinner and benzine, as they may damage the surface of the digital media frame.● When cleaning the LCD screen, use a soft, dry cloth.

NOTES ON MOISTURE CONDENSATION

Moisture condensation damages the digital media frame. Please read the following carefully. Moisture condensation occurs, for example, when you pour a cold drink into a glass on a warm day. Drops of water form on the outside of the glass. In the same way, moisture may condense on the internal parts of the digital media frame.● Moisture condensation occurs during the following cases.- When you transport the digital media frame directly from a cold place to a warm place. - When you use the digital media frame in a room where you just turned on the heater, or a place where the cold air from the air conditioner directly hits the unit. - In summer, when you use the digital media frame in a hot and humid place just after you move the unit from an air conditioned room. - When you use the digital media frame in a humid place.

● Do not use the digital media frame when moisture condensation may occur. If you use the digital media frame in such a situation, it may damage memory cards and internal parts. Remove the memory cards, connect the AC adaptor, turn on the digital media frame, and leave it for two or three hours. After two or three hours, the digital media frame will have warmed up and evaporated any moisture.

ABOUT DATA

● The contents in the memory storage (internal memory, memory card, USB memory device) cannot be guaranteed regardless of the cause of damage or failure.

● Please note that data in the internal memory may be deleted when repairing or checking the Digital Media Frame.

Wireless InteroperabilityThis product is designed to be interoperable with any wireless LAN product that is based on Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS)/Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) radio technology, and is compliant to: ■ The IEEE 802.11 Standard on Wireless LANs (Revision B/G), as defined and approved by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. ■ The Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) certification as defined by the Wi-Fi Alliance. ● The LCD panel contained in this product is manufactured using an extremely high level of precision technology; however, there may be an occasional pixel (dot of light) that does not operate properly (does not light, remains constantly lit, etc.). This is a structural property of LCD technology, is not a sign of malfunc-tion, and is not covered under your warranty. Such pixels are not visible when the picture is viewed from a normal viewing distance● The brightness of the LCD screen differs slightly depending on the viewing angles.

GETTING STARTED

INSTALLING THE STAND

Attach the supplied stand as illustrated.

♦ Do not hold the stand when carrying the Digital Media Frame.

PLACING THE MEDIA FRAME 1 Slide the Digital Media Frame into the slot of the rubber supporter as illustrated.

2 Make sure the Digital Media Frame is stably placed.

NOTE

♦ The Digital Media Frame can be placed vertically.

♦ If this product is placed vertically, the angle of the displayed photo will change accordingly. This feature does not apply to video playback.


USING THE REMOTE CONTROL ■ Preparing the Remote Control

Remove the transparent slip (as illustrated) before using the remote control.

Angle: About 22.5° in each direction of the front of the remote sensor.

Do not expose the remote sensor of the Digital Media Frame to a strong light source such as direct sunlight. If you do, you may not be able to operate the Digital Media Frame via the remote control.

• Do not drop or give the remote control a shock.• Do not leave the remote control near an extremely hot or humid place.• Do not spill water or put anything wet on the remote control.• Do not disassemble the remote control.• If the remote control does not func-tion correctly or if the operating range becomes reduced, replace the battery with new one.• Inserting a battery other than the specified one or an object may damage the remote control.

■ Replacing the Remote Con-trol Battery

Insert the specifi ed battery into the remote control. (*Please see page 4 for safe use of coin-shaped batteries.)

1 Push the battery compartment lid slightly in the direction illustrated.

2 Gently insert a fingernail in groove.

3 Pull out the holder in the direction illustrated. (*Take care not to break your fingernail.)

4 Remove the old battery.

5 Place a new coin-shaped battery (CR2025) with the + side up on the holder. Keep the holder horizontal so that the battery does not fall through.

6 Insert the holder into the remote control.

CONNECTING TO POWER

1 Connect one end of the AC adaptor to the Digital Media Frame.

■ Turning on the Digital Media Frame

Press the POWER button (on the side of the Digital Media Frame) or the ON/STANDBY button (on the remote control) to turn on the Digital Media Frame. The power indicator will turn to green.

CAUTION

♦ Do not connect the power plug to a power outlet other than that indicated on the label, as this can result in a risk of fi re or electric shock.

♦ Do not connect or disconnect the power plug with wet hands. Doing so may cause electric shock.

♦ Do not use an AC adaptor other than one specifi ed, as it can cause a fi re or damage to the Digital Media Frame.


♦ When the AC adaptor is in use, its temperature may increase. However, it is not a malfunction. Make sure that the AC adaptor is disconnected and the temperature decreases before carrying it.

NOTE

♦ Do not use the supplied AC adaptor with any device other than this Digital Media Frame.

♦ It takes some time when you turn on the device by pressing the POWER button (on the side of the Digital Media Frame) for the fi rst time.

■ To Switch Between Standby Mode And Power-On Mode

1 Press the POWER button (on the side of the Digital Media Frame) or the ON/STANDBY button (on the remote control) to turn on the device. The power indicator will turn to green.

2 Press the button again to switch to the Standby mode. The power indicator will turn to red.

You can still use the ON/STANDBY button during the power-off mode.

Some memory cards may not be played back due to its capacity and/or manu-facturer, etc. Do not insert any memory card other than those referred in the ‘Specifications’ chapter. Failure to follow this instruction may cause a malfunction of the digital media frame and/or card.

SAVING DATA

♦ It is recommended that you back up your memory card data. Toshiba is not liable for any damage caused by the use of any memory card with this digital media frame. Toshiba will not compen-sate for any lost data or recording(s) caused by the use of such cards.

♦ For instructions on using your memory card, refer to the owner’s manual for your memory card.

♦ Failure to take proper care of a memory card may prevent the display of pictures from the card. Such damage is not covered by your Toshiba Warranty.

NOTICES FOR USE

♦ Ensure that you insert the memory card correctly into this digital media frame.

♦ Do not remove the memory card while the Digital Media Frame is writing or deleting data. Data saved on the memory card may be lost.

♦ This memory card is a precision electrical instrument. Do not bend, drop or apply strong force to it.

♦ Do not use or store the memory card in an environment of high static electric-ity or electrical interference.

♦ Avoid using or storing in areas of high temperature and humidity.

♦ Be careful not to touch with your fin-gers, nor allow foreign objects to come in contact with nor dirt to accumulate on the metal area (gold-colored area) of the memory card. Wipe off any dirt with a soft, dry cloth.

♦ When carrying or storing the memory card always place it inside of its antistatic case to avoid any effects from static electricity. If there is a stor-age case, place the memory card in the antistatic area of the storage case.

♦ If you place a memory card that has been exposed to static electricity in this digital media frame, there is a chance that this digital media frame could malfunction.

♦ When ejecting the memory card after extended use it may feel warm to the touch. This is normal. The memory card is not malfunctioning.


■ Connecting a USB Memory Device

1 Connect a USB memory device (e.g. USB thumb drive (U3 system not supported), digital camera [with USB mass storage function] or USB card reader) directly as illustrated, or use a USB cable for the connection. (to USB Port)

NOTE♦ Multiple-port USB hub is not sup-ported by the Digital Media Frame.

♦ Multiple-slot USB card reader is supported by the Digital Media Frame. You can insert up to fi ve memory cards to the connected card reader. The memory card(s) will be listed as USB 1-5 respectively. (*Depending on the type of card reader used.)

♦ The Digital Media Frame may not support connection with all types of USB memory devices.

♦ You can switch to another memory card connected via a USB-based card reader using the Menu. For details, please refer to the section: Settings > Selecting Devices. (Refer to page 53)

CONNECTING HEAD-PHONES 1 Connect the headphones (not supplied) equipped with the stereo mini plug to the headphone jack.

2 When headphones are plugged to the Digital Media Frame, there will be no sound transmitted through the speakers.

CAUTION

♦ When you use headphones, keep the volume at a moderate level. If you use the headphones continuously with high volume sound, it may cause hearing damage.

SLIDESHOW MODE

1 Press SLIDESHOW to start a photo slideshow directly.

2 Press STYLE to change the slideshow effects.

You can choose from one of the follow-ing styles.

● Music + Photos: Photos are displayed with music and changed with dissolving effect.

● Blend: Photos are changed with dissolving effect.

● Erase: Photos are changed with wipe effect (from left to right of the screen).

● Horizontal Shutter: Photos are changed imitating the opening/closing of window shutters.

● Random: Blend, Erase and Horizon-tal Shutter styles are randomly applied to photos displayed.

● Stack: Photos are shown piled up on one another.

● Snap Shot: Photos are shown as snapshots pinned to a bulletin board.

3 If you press ENTER during slideshow playback, the Digital Media Frame will display one photo.

● The ZOOM IN/OUT function is not applicable to a BMP/TIFF file.

COPYING FROM A COM-PUTER

You can copy photo/video/music fi le(s) from a computer to the Digital Media Frame (internal memory) and vice versa.

1 Connect to a computer using a USB cable as illustrated.

2 Turn on both the computer and Digital Media Frame. After the connec-tion is established, a confirmation image will appear on the screen.

3 On your computer, click the ‘My Computer’ icon on Desktop screen (for Windows users).

4 A removable device representing the Digital Media Frame will be listed under ‘My Computer’. (for Windows users)

5 Select the file(s) you wish to copy, then copy the file(s) to the Digital Media Frame.

NOTE

♦ Do not turn the power off or discon-nect the Digital Media Frame from a computer while it is copying data to the internal memory. Data saved on the internal memory may be lost.

♦ It is recommended to back up data stored in the internal memory regularly.

USING ONLINE SERVICES

SETTING UP A WIRELESS NETWORK

To use this feature, you will need an Internet provider and a wireless router.If you would like to follow the ‘One Touch Confi guration (PBC for WPS)’ mode to complete the network settings, please check whether your wireless AP/router supports WPS before you start. Wi-Fi support of the Digital Media Frame can be used to connect to FrameChannel and Google Picasa only.Some types of wireless LAN environment may not be available.Wireless antenna for the wire-less LAN operates best in open location where no or few objects exist. To enable the maximum range of wireless communica-tion, do not surround this product with books or stacks of thick paper. Also, avoid placing a metallic plate between this product and wireless antenna or covering the wireless antenna with a metallic case.

7 If you have selected the ‘Static’ mode, press ► to start to enter the network information details.

On each highlighted tab, press ▲▼ to adjust the number, then press ► to move to the next cell. When all the details are completed, press ENTER to quit the screen.

Registering with FrameChannel service allows you to enjoy a customized collection of contents delivered directly to your Digital Media Frame. To use the service, you would need to create an account on the FrameChannel website. 8 You can start customizing your selection of channels on the account management page. If you choose not to modify your selection now, you will see a preset collection of channels when returning to the Digital Media Frame.

Cannot find an inserted memory card/USB memory device on the device list

Some files are not played.

● The Digital Media Frame can process up to 9999 files (including image/video/music files).
