Introduction

DLanguage STUDIO operates its business from Pulau Langkawi (Langkawi Island) northwest

coast of Malaysia, in a resident population of only 80,000 where the economy is mainly driven by tourism. DLanguage STUDIO (DLS) was established in 2002 as a training center initially providing Public English classes, Foreign Language Courses and Soft Skill Training Courses in Langkawi. The clienteles of DLS varies from primary students to secondary students to adults seeking to improve themselves in various fields. DLS has now expanded its business in SKM Training Courses and DLS Serviced Apartment, offering fully serviced accommodation in its 3 bedroom. This apartment offers housekeeping service, room service, travel and tour service arrangements and language programs for long staying guests.

DLS is also registered with Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran as Pusat Latihan and Syarikat SLDN to conduct Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia courses in the fields of Tourist Guide, Nature Guide and Hospitality. This is in-line with Malaysian Government’s vision to be one of the world’s best tourist destinations in which DLS would like to be a player in helping to shape local tour guides and front-liners to a level of international standard.

Accreditation

DLS is registered with JPK to conduct Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia courses, as it has fulfilled the following obligations :

Registered with Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) as Pusat Latihan SLDN, which allows it to work with other registered companies (Syarikat SLDN) to conduct SKM courses together

Registered with Kementerian Kewangan under ‘Kod Bidang 220502’ as required by JPK to conduct SKM courses.

DLS has also applied to JPK as Syarikat SLDN (awaiting for approval). Upon approval, this will allow DLS to conduct SKM courses alone without having to work with other companies.

DLS training center is used to conduct various courses, from language to hospitality and tourism whereas DLS STUDIO Apartment is used as guest accommodation and On-Job-Training outlet for hospitality apprentices.

Raizam Tamin – Food Technologist, VTO, F&B, Front Desk, Tourist Guide, SLDN Trainer & Coach, DSE Training Areas : English, French, Food & Beverage, Front Desk, Customer Service, Tourist Guide.

Raizam is an Australian trained food technologist and entrepreneur, with more than 20 years experience value-adding hospitality businesses in Malaysia, Australia, Peru, Republic of Guinea and Republic of Congo Africa. Raizam ventured into teaching and training since 2000, and has completed Vocational Training Officer (VTO), SLDN Industrial Coach and Dual System Expert (DSE) courses organized by The Skills Dept of Human Resource Ministry Malaysia. He is able to speak English, Malay, French, Spanish, Arabic and Thai. Raizam was once a radio announcer (known as DjRay) for tourism radio, ie Langkawi FM and currently conducts English, French and Malay Language Programs, Hospitality, Tourist Guide, Nature Guide and Customer Service Programs. During his vast local and international experiences, Raizam has successfully managed the following Hotels and Restaurants :

Elia has more than 15 years experience in the Front Office management. She is currently a Training Manager of Rebak island Resort, and often invited by DLanguage STUDIO to perform training in tourism field. She has attended numerous courses related to the tourism industry and often gained high level of achievement.

Rusanah Chin – Chambermaid, SLDN Trainer & Coach Areas of Training – Chambermaid, English

Rusanah started her working career in 1987 as a senior chambermaid at Pelangi Beach Resort Langkawi. She was promoted to the position of a Supervisor the following year and then from there to Senior Supervisor the following year. Looking for more exposure, after 4 years she left the hospitality industry, she joined a retail outlet at the then Delima Resort as store supervisor. In 2001, opportunity knocked at her door for something that was her passion – teaching. She found herself attached to a local kindergarten for six months before realizing that home tutoring was lacking in Langkawi. She then embarked on facilitating classes for primary students for English language, Malay language alongside with Mathematics and Science. The demand for English language classes was on the rise and in 2006, She fully concentrated in only one subject, English, till to date. From time to time, she also conducts classes for primary and secondary school students in basic English communication with DLanguage Studio Langkawi.

Nurhartini Abd Rahman – Tourist Guide, Front Desk, Chambermaid, SLDN Trainer & Coach, DSE Areas of Training – Front Desk, Chambermaid, Tourist Guide & Nature Guide

Nurhartini binti Abdul Rahman, 30 years old graduated in March 2008 as Bachelor Business Administration (Hons.) at Universiti Utara Malaysia. She also a Diploma In Accountancy’s holder from Universiti Teknologi MARA. She started her career as a temporary teacher (GSTT) at several secondary schools in Perlis from year 2007 to 2009. She has experienced in teaching Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu, Geography, Information Communication Technology Literacy (ICTL) and English Language. She joined Advance Management Consultant as Administrative and Human Resources Executive in 2009 in which she was responsible to conduct training and manage administration and human resource tasks. Currently, she works at Bahagia Hotel Langkawi SDN BHD initially as Account Executive. She is also involved in daily operations of the hotel especially in front office related tasks. She is also a part-time trainer at DLanguage Studio and also assists the company in preparing Written Instructive Material for Hospitality & Tourism Course. She has completed her Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 3 for Tourist Guide.

Sabrina Sukardi – Tourist Guide, Front Desk, Chambermaid, Dual System Expert (DSE) Areas of Training – Front Desk, Chambermaid, Tourist Guide & Nature Guide

SABRINA BT SUKARDI, 31 years old graduated in March 2008 as Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (Hons.) at Universiti Utara Malaysia Sintok, Kedah. Upon completion of her studies, she worked as a teacher at INTEGRATED ISLAMIC SCHOOL, KUANTAN for three years. She was also appointed as a Senior Assistant for the school before she receiving an offer as an Operation Executive at ADVANCE MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT in Penang. During her position as an operation executive, she handled events and made sure all events were held smoothly and all participants and crowd were satisfied with the event such as Education Carnival and Leadership Course under Ministry of Youth and Sport. Now, she work as a Marketing Assistant cum Front Office Assistant at BAHAGIA HOTEL LANGKAWI, Kedah and part-time at DLANGUAGE STUDIO as office assistant and trainer.

Zoher Mustan – Nature Guide, SLDN Trainer & Coach Area of Training : Nature Guide

Zoher Mustan was initially a businessman in the field of retails. He later joined Tanjung Rhu Resort and was trained in Nature Guiding. He has attended various courses related with his nature work. He recently attended SLDN Coach course and was later invited by DLanguage STUDIO to join the training team.

Zulkaply Hatim – Culinary Arts SKM 3, SLDN Trainer & Coach Area of Training – Culinary Arts

Zulkaply Hatim has worked in various 5 to 6 star resorts around Malaysia including The Datai Langkawi and Rebak Island Resort. He has delivered many cooking class lessons organized by DLanguage STUDIO. Being a well organized chef and trainer, Zulkaply has proven his successful track record in developing skills of his sub-ordinates anywhere he works. Amirul Syafiq Abdullah – Tourist Guide, SLDN Trainer & Coach Area of Training – Tourist Guide

Amirul Syafiq has attended SLDN Coach course and is currently running a Travel Agency business. He conducts more coaching activities but from time to time, he is invited to conduct tourism related training programs, especially in Nature and Tourist guiding.

Ms Chou Nyok Kuen – Mandarin and English Facilitator

Ms Chou is able to communicate in English, Mandarin and Malay. She is an English and Mandarin facilitator and an entrepreneur with value-added 8 years of industrial experience and in teaching fields. Initially she started as a kindergarten teacher and was later on promoted to Principal of Tadika Aman Kindergarten, in which she contributed her services for 3 years. She had led the school with a proven track record of effective leadership before she ventured into adults teaching in 2005. Over the years, she has attended language courses, then offered by DLS to teach the adults. She has successfully conducted Mandarin and English Courses for Langkawi Tourism Action Council and DLS
