Divine desire
What is God’s desire?
Leviticus 26:11-12 NIV
I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God,
and you will be my people.
Ezekiel 37:27 NIV
My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my
people.
Revelation 21:3 NIV
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of
God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and
God himself will be with them and be their God.”

Desire for the Divine
How do we respond to God’s desire?
It would seem that our Lord finds our desire not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased. CS Lewis
