This poster shared a successful case as an example of how pharmacists in the community pharmacies can upgrade their functions and provide publics diversified and professional pharmaceutical services. 1. Community pharmacy provide multiple services in store: (1) Wholesale and retail name brand drugs; (2) Enroll in National health insurance program (NHI) and receive prescriptions from major hospitals and clinics throughout the nation; (3) Serve as community drug use counseling station to provide community consultation services; (4) Offer English services. 2. Community pharmacist’s extension services: (1) A lecturer in the community colleges; (2) An appointed-speaker for the pubic health issues; (3) A primary screener in National Atrial Fibrillation Screening research project; (4) Presenter and attendee of international pharmaceutical conferences. Abstract The retrospective study reviews a community pharmacist couple not only provided basic pharmaceutical services, participated various educational trainings and community activities organized by the Taiwan Pharmacist Association and the Kaohsiung Pharmacists Association, but also joined research project conducted by educational hospitals on how to enhance the service quality and to promote the professional experiences and outcomes of diversified pharmaceutical services. Community pharmacists play a very important role in drug safety and assist forming a healthier city. Conclusions Figure 3. Participated National Atrial Fibrillation Screening research project. Annually, there’s an average of 2,696 licensed pharmacists in Kaohsiung. 30% work in the clinic, 23% in the hospital, 18% is owner of private pharmacy, 13% in private company, 9% license not in use, 7% in private pharmacy, and 1% each as administrator or owner of private company. Mrs. Lai gave lectures and speeches to community residents and general publics to promote education program on correct use of drug, safety education for adolescents, anti abusing use of drugs. So far, 48 lectures were made to more than five thousands general publics. More than half of them are elementary students and more than 70% are students.
