Monty Cooper Article on Twombly and Iqbal Decisions Published
Cooper’s article, was published in the A u s tralian
P rod u c tL iability Reporter. As the title suggests,
the publication’s audience is generally made up of
Australian and international legal profession-
als. The article highlights the Supreme Court’s
decisions in Twombly and Iqbal, which require
plaintiffs to be more specific with allegations in
their complaints in federal court and their influence
on a recent California federal-court decision. Con-
gratulations, Monty!
Three to Honored with Wiley Branton Award
The National Bar Association has announced this year’s recipients of the Wiley A.
Branton Award will be Hon. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Larry Gibson and Ben Wilson.

Ollie May Cooper Award Presentation on October 23, 2012
A. Scott Bolden Honored with Chamber’s Choice Award
A. Scott Bolden, Managing Partner of Reed Smith’s DC
office, will be honored with the DC Chamber of Com-
merce’s “Chamber’s Choice” award at its annual gala on
Saturday, October 27. The Chamber’s Choice Awards
Gala is the Chamber’s most prestigious affair attracting
over 1,300 of DC’s most prominent leaders, decision-
makers, dignitaries and elite sponsors. Tickets and
Sponsorhips are still available for this black tie event.

Branton Award will be Hon. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Larry Gibson and Ben Wilson.
The awards will be presented at a reception on Thursday, November 1 at DLA Piper
(500 Eighth Street, NW) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The awards are presented in conjunc-
tion with the day-long 24th Annual Wiley Branton Symposium at Howard’s Law
School. This year’s symposium focus will be “Protest and Polarization: Law and De-
bate in America, 2012.” The award, named in honor of attorney and civil rights activ-
ist Wiley A. Branton, is presented to individuals who have demonstrated leadership on
the cutting edge of law for civil, social and economic justice. If you are interested in

Corporate Counsel Women of Color 8th Annual Meeting Big Success
The CCWC hosted its 8th annual conference Oct. 10-
12 and there were over 600 women of color in attend-
ance. Organized by Laurie Robinson (who was
named an African American History Maker in the Field
of Law at this year’s meeting), speakers included Lau-
rel Ritchie, President of the WNBA, Juliette Pryor,
General Counsel of US Foods, Arin Reeves of the
Center for Legal Inclusiveness, and may others. Plans
are being made now for 2013’s meeting in Washing-
ton, DC. If you have topic ideas, proposed speakers
or honorees for the 9th Annual Meeting, please send
them here. You will receive a free registration for the
conference if your idea is selected.
Delaware Barristers’ Louis L. Redding Benefit and Awards Gala
The Delaware Barristers Association, the Delaware affiliate of the NBA, will hold its an-
nual dinner and awards gala on Friday, November 9, at the Hotel Dupont’s Gold Ball-

This program will beheld in the Moot Courtroom of the Howard UniversitySchool of Law. Professor Larry S. Gibson is the lecturerfor this event. Dovey J. Roundtree was born in Charlotte,North Carolina. She established a law firm in NorthwestWashington, D.C. in 1955 and practiced in the area formost of her legal career. Throughout her career, Ms.Roundtree represented many noteworthy clients andearned the respect of her clients and the legal communi-ty. In 2000, the American Bar Association presented herwith the coveted Margaret Brent Award, which she donatedto the Howard University School of Law. Her granddaugh-ter, Charlene Pritchett Stevenson, will accept the Ollie MayCooper award for Ms. Roundtree. Professor Larry S. The Hispanic Bar Association of DC will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Equal

Girls, Inc. Benefit at Atlas Theater November 27
Girls Inc. of the Washington DC Metro Area will present its Fall Benefit, featuring the Off-
Broadway show, Fried C hic ken and L atkes , at the Atlas Theater. The show, written and
performed by Rain Pryor, the daughter of Richard Pryor and Shelley Bonis, centers on
growing up bi-racial in America. The benefit will also honor Girls Inc.’s very own trailblaz-
ers Roselyn Payne Epps, MD, noted pediatrician and women's health advocate; and
Artis Hampshire-Cowan, Secretary and Senior Vice President, Howard University. Indi-

Daily Record Leadership in Law Awards Celebration Nov. 15
The Maryland Daily Record’s Annual Leadership in Law Awards Celebration will be
held Thursday, November 15, 5:30 to 8:00pm at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve. This
year’s honorees include DPN’s own Ben Wilson. Tickets are $95 and can be pur-
