Greetings, As we begin our spring-cleaning, I would ask that all Rotarians look at their Clubs and focus on the unfinished task of this Rotary year! Lying there are two important items: Foundation giving for the year and membership growth. Foundation giving is any easy task if we would just ask. I will be reminding each club where they are and where they have been. No club wants to be remembered for not supporting our Foundation in some manner. June 30 is the end of the Rotary year. Membership has seen some real growth here in 5750 and I want to thank PDG Marty Postic for hammering away and reminding Clubs TO ASK our great citizens to become great Rotarians as well! Where Rotary ends up its’ second century will be determined by our ability to change today’s membership to reflect what tomorrow’s society will look like. By planning for our future we will allow Rotary to continue to flourish, grow, and continue in its’ adventure in service by this infusion. Service above self! Membership in Rotary is a privilege of ones lifetime. The people we bring to Rotary will receive a special gift. They just need the opportunity. Give the gift of Rotary – it lasts’ a lifetime. Trust me – ask someone that has given this gift! Connections

Thanks to the efforts of Club 29 working in concert with other District 5750 Clubs and Rotarians in far away places such as India, Uganda, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia and Columbia with support from Rotarians in German, Sweden, Canada and Hungry, lives are being improved every day!

A brief overview of current projects that we are connected with includes:

• Medical equipment and fresh water for families, homes and hospitals in Romania.

• School benches for students in India who were once forced to sitonadirtflooratschool.

• Literacy training in Turkey for nearly 2,000 people, so they canreadandwrite–manythefirstintheirfamilytobeabletodo so.

• A medical project connecting Rotarians from six countries in an effort to vastly improve medical treatment for adults, children and pregnant women in Romania.

• Another project in Romania to upgrade the Burn Department in a hospital for injured children.

• A project in Columbia to provide cardiologistic evaluation for children under the age of 10 from low-income families. The goal is early detection congenital heart disease.

• Digging critically needed water wells in Uganda. Fresh water is as far away as the nearest faucet in our homes, often miles away from rural villagers.

• Another Uganda project provides the means to earn a living making bricks in areas where high unemployment is the generational norm. Brick making machines can also be used to construct much needed local housing.

• In Bulgaria, providing technological and vocational training for the visually impaired to dramatically improve employment opportunities and literacy.

• Furnishing specially built wheel chairs to allow handicapped Russian students to participate in quality-of-life changing dance competitions.

This year, our club has parlayed a modest $16,000 in donations to $455,000 (through matching funds) with 32 other clubs, ten districts and the Rotary Foundation. By taking advantage of discounts from various manufactures and organizations such as Assist International, the money has an eventual impact of a whopping $1,500,000!

Get your passport ready! Make plans to join fellow Rotarians as they represent Club 29 and District 5750 between September 12th and October 4th at the dedication ceremonies in St. Petersburg, Timisoara, Romania, and Istanbul.

The mission of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
