As it is so popular, film distributors tend to release their films on DVD’s. Blu-ray is a digital optical disc data storage format which has been designed to replace the DVD format. Despite having the same dimensions as a DVD disc, it offers 5x as more storage than the DVD disc and can store up to 25GB on a single layer. Despite the DVD being the most popular, the Blu-ray disc has evolved over time due to the fact it provides a HD image. This is apparent through the introduction of Blu-ray compatibility on many different devices.
