Session Aims:

• To understand how Photoshop is used in the development of distressed imagery.

• To explore and master a range of Photoshop tools and techniques.

• To record processes and apply findings to your own FMP work.

• Outcomes: You will understand a range of different distressing techniques which can be created using Photoshop tools, and explore how these can be applied to individual FMP assignment work.

• Michelle says: you need to provide a wide range of digital experimentation in your sketchbooks, both from in-class examples and independent exploration, so take notes as you work.

• Using the Invert command• Select your image

• Image>Adjustments>Invert

• Invert for opposite

3. Overlay the texture over the image

4. Experiment with blend modes

5. Add more textures and blend

• Change Levels to suit

• Applying texture using a layer blend and painting onto a mask

5. Add a mask to the texture layer

6. Invert the mask and paint in the features with white
