Geneva Shell Niche with Plinths, available in 3 sizes. The cap is separated from the casing by plinths, and curved-plywood used for the backing. Installed with Wood Casings 91110 or 91220 (sold separately), the overall niche can be any height, and made to fit your application.
Osborne Shell Niche Cap Kit, available in 3 sizes. Each kit contains a niche cap, rim, two pilasters. Installed with Fluted Pilasters 92260 (sold with kit). The backing is created using curved plywood or tempered hardboard cut to the desired size.
^Fits standard 2 x 4 construction
Shell niche caps are used for two reasons - when a standard niche is not wide, tall or deep enough, or the project calls for shelves within the niche. The shell niche cap has a groove molded into the underside, into which bending plywood can be inserted and attached to the framing.

IMPORTANT NOTES:1. Material should be removed from box and stored flat when
received. Allow it to come to room temperature 24 hours prior to installation.
2. For best results, the use of construction type adhesive in addition to pneumatic pin nailing is recommended. Use of tape or clamps may be helpful in securing the material in position while adhesives bond.
3. "Made-To-Fit" mouldings can be cut, shaped or sanded using normal woodworking equipment.
4. The use of water based stain such as Miniwax works well. Apply with brush or rag and wipe off. Additional coats may be applied if necessary to match wood. Be sure to allow first coat to dry completely before applying more stain. Finish with clear coat after staining.
5. All paints work well. Best results are seen when a primer coat is applied. When using Alkyd Enamels or Oil based Enamels a water base or Latex undercoat is required. Never paint before installation. The material is flexible and the paint may crack during installation.

Casing Applications:Half Round:When ordering half circle radius casing, measure thedistance across the opening at the widest point. This is the diameter of the circle (see diagram). The radius (height) dimension should be one half the length of the diameter. Specify the radius on your order.
Eyebrow:When ordering arches or arcs (also called eyebrows orsectionals), measure the height and width of the arch (see diagram). Specify these dimensions when ordering. Templates must be furnished when ordering elliptical and oval casings.

General Information• Made to fit standard 36” and 42” wide fireboxes• Available in unpainted MDF & hardwoods (paint grade/
unfinished poplar/cherry) or stain grade/unfinished oak veneer.
• Constructed of veneered MDF & select hardwoods• Designed to overlap the facing material surrounding the
firebox (tile, marble, slate, etc.) This allows flexibility in sizing and facing materials. (see “C” dimension)
• Installation instructions are included with every order• Installation requires basic tools and materials including
construction adhesive, nails/screws and 1” x 2” x 4’ lumber strips. (which can be purchased locally)
• After some filling and sanding, surrounds can be finished with most quality paints or stains.
