PROJECT

Populations around the world are rapidly ageing. Economic development, improved lifestyles, advances in healthcare and medicine, including reduced infant mortality, have resulted in a continuous increase in life expectancy across Europe during the last century. This process has been going on for longer in Europe than in most other parts of the world, placing the EU-28 among the world leaders for life expectancy. According to Eurostat, life expectancy at birth in the EU-28 was estimated at 80.6 years in 2013.

This project will develop a training program based on the concept of “Independent living” that will make more old people able to live a more autonomous life. According to Wikipedia, Independent living is a philosophy, a way of looking at disability and society, and a worldwide movement of people with disabilities working for self-determination, self-respect and equal opportunities. In the context of elder care, Independent Living is not only related to health care, but also to the capability they have to cope with their daily needs as much as possible and more easily and independently. In modern times, such concept is highly associated with the use of PCs or smartphones and, therefore, internet as the one of the best way to fulfill their needs. The biggest problem is most of the elderly do not know how to use Internet and general IT.

The main objective of TECHSenior consists in

“Keeping old capable of taking care of themselves as long as possible increasing their level of digital competence and through more active participation in society and more positive attitude towards EU values”.

DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVE

5

PROJECT

To achieve the above objective, partner organizations will implement following actions.

Firstly, they will create educational and training programs in the form of blended learning, where the elderly will be able to acquire basic handling skills of electronic devices and software. Thus, seniors can make their everyday transactions, their diagnostic tests and plan their participation in social events or holidays.

Such programs can be used in VET education, training, adult lifelong learning and by volunteers. Indeed, following the teacher training, 2 courses will be developed:

1. The first will involve human elements of teaching and training, using methods to engage older persons. 2. E-learning program as a reference which will provide ongoing support.

DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION STRATEGY

The project focus on the wide spread not only of the results at the end, but also the activities during the implementation phase. The dissemination methods will be used vary from classical methods (e.g. website and social media. Erasmus+ Dissemination platform, brochures, newsletter etc.) to new and innovative methods. The latter are on-line forum within the project website giving the opportunity to older people to communicate by using technology.

Therefore, Dissemination and exploitation strategy aims to give the chance to many organizations, public bodies, NGOs, Chambers of Commerce and policy makers to build and join a large network focused on the real needs of elders in order to support them in familiarizing with technology.

Wide coverage of dissemination can take place with the following actions:

DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION STRATEGY

The Dissemination work package will be led by EfVET which as European umbrella organization for TVET institutions will play a major role in the project dissemination.

The association will take care for the wide dissemination across Europe and countries in which the consortium is not directly represented. This will be done especially through its website and online communication (EfVET newsletter, EfVET member news and social media). Furthermore, the EfVET team will disseminate the project via direct presentations and promotional material distribution (brochures) at conferences and meetings not only in Brussels, but throughout Europe. In particular, a visible representation will be ensured at the EfVET Annual conferences.

Moreover, EfVET will coordinate partners’ local and national dissemination activities and contribute to the national valorization in the partner countries.

EfVET ROLES ALL PARTNER ROLES

All partners will have dissemination tasks and responsibilities coordinated by the EfVET secretary and staff to ensure best use of the channels.

Besides EfVET, also Sosu Aarhus, CDEA, AgeUK and P-Consulting have extensive knowledge of dissemination projects and excellent links with authorities at all levels.

All partners are going to contribute by discovering or creating new channels for dissemination. Indeed, participation in meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops will open new contacts and networks physiologically.

Moreover, they will dedicate staff time to produce resources such as the project brochures, newsletters, information and new items on their websites, press releases and presentations.
