LIGHT, A TOOL FOR SUCCESS
Communication plays a vital role in focusing attention on any job, while the
means of communication are continually evolving in a quest for the utmost
effectiveness.
Nowadays, if you wish and need to communicate, there are increasingly better
instruments capable of providing highly spectacular effects.
LIGHT AS A COMMUNICATION MEDIUM
Light is a highly effective means of communication: it is capable of directing,
defining, stressing, distinguishing and enhancing any kind of subject.
Its capacity for attraction is irresistible, but the tremendous expansion in the
use of both still and moving pictures means it is necessary to find original
solutions to be distinguished from the others. These solutions enable
increasingly more flexible and less static elements of attraction.
ADVANTAGES OF PROJECTION
It is also clear that introducing spectacular elements into communication
with fixed lighting systems is technically difficult and particularly expensive.
It is much simpler and more advantageous to utilize systems based on
projecting light and images that decrease the cost and size of the
instruments required and make it simple to change the subject and methods
of projection.
LEAPING AHEAD IN THE QUALITY OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION

Display Line is an extremely compact range of projectors, easy to use and fun, with enormous potential for bringing out
the user's creativity. A kind of scientific “meccano” of light effects where the modularity of a vast range of different
effects allows solutions that are sure to be an attraction in every setting.
The base system of each projector model is composed of a lighting fixture, a lens and twin rails for the effects.
The effects, which are modular, are supplied as optional accessories and may be chosen from a vast range.
The many accessories available provide combinations for an optimum response to an extraordinary number of different
application requirements. With their extremely small size, Display Line models have a stylish design, are easy to locate
in any setting and equally simple to control as your imagination dictates.
6
D I S T I N G U I S H I N G F E A T U R E SPROJECTION QUALITY.
By choosing the high-definition projection lens units, all Display Line models project
images with the utmost precision and sharpness, with extraordinarily uniform projection
all over the illuminated surface.
LAMP POWER AND QUALITY.
The outfit of lamps of various types for the different models makes it possible to choo-
se the most suitable projector for each application: metal halide lamps privilege po-
wer and luminous efficiency, halogen lamps make for more cost-effective running.
All lamps are anyhow of top quality, with a high level of luminous emission, and are
extremely durable.
VERSATILITY.
The Display Line comprises models ranging from the compact projector for short distances to the higher capacity projector
capable of illuminating at over 50 metres. In this complete range, envisaging solutions for differentiated applications, each
model has a vast choice of lens units and accessories to resolve a surprisingly high number of communication problems in
a different and creative manner.
SIMPLICITY.
Extremely compact dimensions and their operating features make them easy to locate and install.
The projectors are user friendly and provided with clear documentation. Fitting the various optional accessories is designed to
offer the utmost ergonomics, practical and handy use.
SAFETY.
The extra-low voltage supplying the accessories is an assurance against all electrical problems in daily use. Display Line is in
conformity with the ETL standards, in force in the USA and Canada, and naturally complies with the EN standards, meeting the
EC directive 89/336 (on electromagnetic compatibility) and EC 72/23 (on safety).
COST- EFFECTIVENESS.
The Display Line system is particularly cost-effective as it offers the opportunity of easily differentiating the accessories as require-
ments change, interchanging the content of the message extremely quickly and, again extremely quickly, it allows repositioning the
projectors around the room. The cost-effectiveness of the lamps is worth a special mention, considering that the low intrinsic cost of
the halogen lamps is combined with an extraordinarily long life for the metal halide lamps of the other PFC models.
DESIGN.
Because of its compactness, style and ergonomics, Display Line can easily be included
in any room and combined with any general lighting system.
SERVICE AND ASSISTANCE.
Clay Paky is a byword for high technology and customer satisfaction, which derive from
profitable collaboration with architects, designers and technicians and it is able, with its
widespread distribution network, to meet the most complex specifications of the most
particular settings. With regards to the after-sales service, the distribution network is es-
pecially well equipped, with workshops and spare parts, to implement the terms of war-
ranty and to ensure the products work perfectly over the course of time.

V.I.P. 300 is a modular system composed of a lighting fixture with a discharge lamp of 300 Watts - HTI 300 or long-life HMD
300. It is equipped with two electrified rails that can accommodate a lens unit selected from a wide range and various
accessories that can be combined together, supplied as optional items. These accessories may be static or motorized and
therefore permit both fixed and moving projections. The V.I.P. 300 projector is also available in the PFC version, with an
internal power factor correction capacitor of 35µF that permits considerable power savings (approximately 450VA instead
of 800VA).
V.I.P. 150 PFC has the same dimensions as V.I.P. 300 and it uses electrified rails to power the motorized accessories, but it uses
an HQI-T 150W lamp, which has an extremely long life (9000 hours). V.I.P. 150 has power factor correction as standard, that is
it only consumes 200VA. It is suited to many applications, especially ones where V.I.P. 300 turns out to be too bright, for instance
when projecting over short distances (shop windows) or in settings with low lighting levels (museums), and it can be fitted with
special accessories such as a digital clock and fibre optics. The extremely long life of the lamp means it can also be used in low-
maintenance fixed installations.
When, for more cost-effective operation, it is preferred to use an ordinary halogen lamp, the user might want to choose
V.I.P. 250 ALO; the performance and operation of this model are quite similar to those of V.I.P. 300, with the sole exception
of the lamp, which is of 250 Watts with extra-low voltage (24 Volts).
V.I.P. 250 ALO / ST combines a compact body with a high level of brightness and it can use the motorized accessories of V.I.P.
250 ALO. This projector does not have a transformer (ST = No Transformer) and it therefore needs to be powered with an ex-
ternal transformer, which may also be used for several projectors at the same time, or with extra-low voltage electrified rails. It
finds its application in window displays and shops where space is at a premium or in installations with a large number of pro-
jectors, where the lower cost of the projector compared to the normal V.I.P. 250 may provide considerable savings.

V.I.P. 300 DIA is a modular system specially designed to project slides, with a discharge lamp of 300 Watts - HTI 300 or long-
life HMD 300. It is equipped with two electrified rails, which can accommodate a lens unit selected from a wide range and
various accessories that can be combined together, supplied as optional items. V.I.P. 300 DIA can use all the Display Line
lens units and optional accessories, as well as some specific moving and static accessories: fixed slide mount, rotating slide,
slide changer with 3 or 6 positions, photographic effect, fluid effect. It is equipped with filters and additional devices to cool
the projected slides.
V.I.P. 300 is also available in the PFC version, with an internal power
factor correction capacitor of 35µF that permits considerable power
savings (approximately 450VA instead of 800VA).
S.I.P. 300 is a system composed of a small lighting fixture, 300
Watt halogen lamp, equipped with two non-electrified rails that
can accommodate a lens unit selected from a wide range and a
number of optional accessories for static effects. S.I.P. 300 is
stylish and easy to locate anywhere.

0 - 1 0 V O L T S A C C E S S O R I E S0 -10V accessories are a substantial innovation as they are "intelligent accessories" making control
possible from an analogue control unit.
This possibility for control, in addition to position indexing, permits accurate synchronization
between accessories and between projectors. For instance, it allows to perfectly synchronize the
colour change projected by more than one unit or, by using the "stop" accessory, it allows a
continuous succession of slides projected onto the same area or onto different points by two or more
units.
Resetting the accessories, when powering up the projector or the accessory, makes it possible to position the
wheel in a set position with the aid of a small magnet. In this way, it is possible to identify the starting
position and then control the change in position.
The 0 -10V intelligent accessories moreover have a new timer with 4 different timer intervals (from 1 to 15
seconds, from 15 to 30 seconds, from 30 to 90 seconds and from 90 seconds to 3 minutes) that can be selected with 1 dip-switch
that has 2 positions offering 4 possible selections. The timer knob therefore only operates in the selected range instead of over
the entire interval.

of rotation. The sound-to-light circuit is completely inside the accessory and therefore receives all
external sound via the built-in microphone.
The accessories also operate in the continuous rotation mode, without activating the sound-to-light
circuit, by means of the three-position selector.

• a set of accessories we define as "manual" that are positioned on the rails and are manually set upto perform their function;
• a set of motorized accessories "with continuous motion" powered directly by the electrifiedrails and that perform repetitive functions with a speed of rotation suited to the required typeof effect;
• lastly, there is a set of "timed" motorized accessories, also powered directly by the electrified rails, that perform automatic functions controlled by a control system with a timer or an external control. The time intervals can be set directly by the user and modified at any time.
Some of the most recent features within the Display Line comprise additional possibilities forcontrol and motion offered by the two following categories of accessories.

The above drawing shows the various possibilities of projecting an image offered by Display Line projectors.
The rails in front of the projector make it possible to put different effects into the positions marked with numbers 1 and
2 (between the projector and the lens unit inserted in the lens holder) and number 3 (on the lens holder).
POSITION 1
Straight in front of the lighting fixture, this position is for an accessory providing a support for the image. This is sufficient
for projecting an image without any effects. The following accessories can be mounted:

POSITION 2
If effects are required, the relevant accessories can be positioned between the image and the lens unit, called position 2.
Position 2 accessories have three types of action:
• Colouring the image.
• Changing the appearance of the image with prisms and special glasses.
• Changing the duration and method of the projection.
Note: It is nearly always possible to create
a combination by inserting an accessory
in POSITION 1 and in POSITION 2.
In this case, we need to follow this
logical outline:
• Do we want to colour the image
with a colour changer?
• Do we want to change the shape of the
image with prisms or the wind effect?
• Do we want to change the method
of projection with the stopper or the
gradual shutter?

Besides the illustrated combinations, with Display Line it is also possible to obtain more complex set-ups.
The feasibility of these combinations depends on the conjunction of several factors:
• electrified rail length.
• size of accessories.
• capacity for focusing the lens at a certain distance.
Be sure to call your Display Line dealer for a demonstration of all the combinations this product line can offer you.
POSITION 3
This is the position in front of the lens unit. The accessories are made with a perforated mounting that goes into the
lens holder mounting. There are four mirror accessories and one prism accessory:
21
The possibility of creating images extremely simply, or projecting trademarks, messages, signs or slo-gans are just some of the most typical features that users can obtain with Display Line.Display Line makes use of several graphic supports, each one with specific characteristics, for the typeof image produced, the duration of the support and the method of projection.
GOBOS
The gobo is the image support with the most spectacular effect. There are many varieties of gobo that basically differ in the type
of material, production system and patterns.
• metal gobos, made of stainless steel, simple to produce with a limited cost. Patterns or messages, even complex ones, are etched
into the steel and to hold the pattern or message together (think of the inside of the letter “O”) it is necessary to use small join-
ing lines that, albeit minimally, alter the original graphics.
• chromed glass gobos, the ideal support to produce monochrome images (in black and white) and high-definition
photographs in all shades of grey. Chromed glass is moreover the basis for making gobos with several colours.
• multicolour dichroic gobos, made by superimposing filters of different colours. Each single layer is processed by ful-
ly or partially removing coloured layers thereby obtaining a high number of shades with the possibility of fading.
• scenery gobos that produce special coloured texture effects or a "frosted" effect are available in glass or metal or
dichroic.
COLOUR FILTERS
Display Line uses only dichroic filters made of optical-quality
glass on which chemical condensation vapours are deposited
by a special process to create the colour of the filter.
This type of filter ensures maximum uniformity and purity of
colour for the maximum chromatic effect when projected.
Clay Paky colour filters are available in such a wide range
of colours as to fully meet even the most specific user re-
quirements.

SLIDES
Slides are the most practical tool for creating images as they are easy to obtain and can be made
by the user with an ordinary camera. Slides also make it possible to show a subject in every colour
without having to use graphic simplifications, as in the case of gobos.
As they are made with photographic film, which by its nature has a low level
of resistance to heat and UV rays, slides have a relatively short life and need
to be replaced after a certain number of hours of operation.
To delay ageing as long as possible, V.I.P. DIA models are fitted with a slide
cooling fan underneath the body of the projector and a heat filter. V.I.P. 150,
normally not fitted with a heat filter, can project slides only by inserting the filter
inside the projector.
For special needs of lengthy projections, and in certain environmental conditions,
special films (such as Cibachrome/Ilfochrome) are available on the market that offer
greater resistance to heat and UV rays, reaching a considerably longer life than that
of an ordinary slide.
Clay Paky provides services both for duplicating slides supplied by users and for making
them (standard customized or cibachrome slides).
GRAPHIC FILM
Graphic film is composed of a photographic film enclosed between two discs
of Ø 130mm and mounted on the graphic film accessory (C52146).
As the film is made of the same material used for the long-life slides, the
accessory can only be used on V.I.P. 300 DIA and V.I.P. 150 projectors.
It is possible to project subjects of different types (patterns, images,
messages) developed through 360°, thereby providing a panoramic view.
Clay Paky has a certain number of standard discs, while customized subjects
can be made to the customer's drawing using the conversion from digital to
photographic and printing to slide film services offered by professional
laboratories.
CUSTOMIZING IMAGES
Clay Paky has a vast range of gobos and graphic films, illustrated in the relevant catalogues. In addition, it provides a
qualified service for making customized supports - gobos, graphic films, slides - made to the customer's order, drawing
or guidelines.
Thanks to the "standard" dimensions used, the user however is free to choose graphic supports from catalogues of other
manufacturers, further expanding the range of resources available.
