Quantities and weight

• 300 concrete blocks with max weight of 1250kg

• 30 steel beams (1,6mx200x200), with max weith 500kg

• 635 concrete bricks of 18 kg each• Hundreds of steel bricks to close the open

whole

Pure dismantling

• Mounting technique and tools no longer authorised: needs for studies and tooling: 50kCHF

• Consider 1 month for wall removal + time needed to mount and dismount lines to arrive to the wall: ~50kCHF for manpower

All you see in the phots needs to be removed

Summary of evacuation by this way• Dismantling of the whole zone + up to PS machine• Dismantling of 1-2 PS unit to pass into the inside of the

ring and a part of LBS line• Reinforcement of slab under the PS units and along the

path (to be checked) to pass with heavy machines+blocks• Full reinforcement of the slab from evacuation door and

inner side of PS ring at this position• Unknowns about ground situation• Extra long patch and need for handling means (loco +

trailer+forklifts etc)

Summary of evacuation by this way

• Dismantling of the whole line up to PBS machine

• Reinforcement of slab under along the path (10 m?) to pass with heavy machines+blocks

• Short patch and limited need for handling means

• More activated zone?

Open questions and short conclusions

• Activation of blocks?• Permanence of operators in ‘hot zones’ like PSB injection

region?• Reinstallation of the wall after CE? • Sol 1 prevent future exchange of magnets in the zone (no

more transport zone), Sol 2 and seem difficult to realise to lift the dump up and keep in place. Sol 4 needs installation of a crane in the vault up to the zone to allow future handling of the 2 lines (from where do we insert the dump?)

Evacuation from PSB side is clearly the preferred choise It is possible and we are waiting more infos from your side
