DISCUSSION & SUGGESTION

From the experiment we can discuss that the result for experiment was have defected because the equipment such as the pump value of flow rate is adjustable by manual method, it will affect the flow rate in the tank. Furthermore the adjustable for flow rate is also sensitive and it will make the flow rate in tank is not same with in meter. When the result for Upstream flow Depth, Flow depth above Jump, Flow depth below jump was taken I have parallax error because the tank is in the high place so difficult to take the reading without parallax error.

When the experiment for Part B, the flow rate is not stable and have make the water was flow out outside the tank it will affect the result because the water was not in stable flow. This situation was happen because the pump is not in good condition.

When the experiment A which is have hydraulic jump, the result for flow depth above jump was different from the experiment B which is without hydraulic jump. The hydraulic jump which is mean open channels the transition from a rapid flow to a slow flow, the d1 is higher in experiment A than experiment B. for weir opening is 0.002m the d1 for experiment A is 0.0013 but in experiment B the d1 is 0.0011m. its mean the hydrostatic jump is make the water flow from tank is slower and the result is the d1 is higher. Hydrostatic jump was the main effect the reading for d1 because the water flow from tank to weir opening is in slow speed because there is hydrostatic jump while the experiment B which is without the hydrostatic jump the water flow from tank to weir opening is much faster than in experiment B

Moreover the weir opening is manipulated variable, even though with or without hydrostatic jump the do is effect by weir opening. When the weir opening is 0.002 the do is 0.411, while the weir opening is 0.025m the do is 0.306m this result is from experiment A which is have hydrostatic jump. While for experiment b which do not have hydrostatic jump when the weir opening 0.002 the d0 is 0.443 m while the weir opening is 0.0025 the do is 0.250m. This result can make the hypothesis that when the depth of weir opening is increase the upstream flow do is decrease.

To avoid this problem, the adjustable for flow rate must be adjust very careful to make sure the flow rate is in the stable condition. When to take the reading, measurement must be read while the reader eye on a meniscus and take the best reading with two result. And then recheck it.
