To enter the discussion board, click on the Discussion Board button. It is in the row of buttons on the left of the screen.

Choose the Forum you wish to participate in. Click on the title to enter the main discussion page.

If you are the first to post, you won’t see any other threads.Click “+New thread” to add your post.

If others have posted, you will see the threads.Either way, Click “+ new thread” to start your posting.

Once you click “+ new thread”, a text box pops up. This box works just like Word. You can type, spell check, copy and paste, change the font, add a picture, etc.

You must also add a subject that will show on the main discussion screen.

Once you have finished typing, you can click one of the buttons on the bottom, right. You can cancel, save or submit. If you hit save, you can view the posting,

but no one else can. You must hit submit for it to be seen by others.

To read someone’s posting, click on the title.

After you read what they have said, click reply to comment.

The same text box pops up for you to type . Remember to hit submit.

You can read the comments other people have posted by clicking on the RE-title. It is basically the same procedure to comment on someone’s reply.

You can see if there are postings you have not yet read.

Since we don’t see each other, the Discussion Board is a fun way for the class to discuss topics. As you can see on the Discussion Board rubric, it is important that your comments be in-depth. Only writing “I agree” will not get your any points. You must also stay on topic and be respectful. Please post early or on time, so that others may have the chance to respond to your postings.
