Minutes Wilmington Preparatory Academy Board of Directors Meeting-October 16, 2017 Location: Wilmington Preparatory Academy Gymnasium-Room 112 ______________________________________________________________________________ Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm by Valerie Galloway. In attendance-Voting Members: Valerie Galloway, Yolanda Rhodes, William Caton and Ramona Ragin. Voting Members not present: Martha Terault. Non-Voting members present: Kevin Johnson and Mary Rusher. Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Yolanda Rhodes. Mission Statement: The Academy’s mission statement was read by William Caton. Approval of Agenda: The motion was made to approve the agenda by Valerie Galloway, second by William Caton, all in favor, so adopted. Approval of Minutes: September minutes were reviewed. The motion to approve the minutes was made by Ramona Ragin, second by Yolanda Rhodes, all in favor so adopted. Finance Report: Mary Rusher gave an overview of the financial status of WPA. Dean's Report: (see attached) the motion to accept the Dean’s report was made by Valerie Galloway, second by Ramona Ragin, all in favor, so adopted. Board Training: The Board discusses board training for all board members. Public Comments: None at this time. 2016-17 School Report Card: The 2016-17 School Report card was reviewed and discussed. Discrepancies as it relates to the school’s growth measure will be investigated by Mr. Johnson. School Update: Kevin Johnson gave updates. Benchmark testing for all grades was administered September 13 th and 14 th 2017. Other Business: None at this time. WPA UPDATE
School-wide benchmark testing was administered September 12 and 13, 2017.
September 22, 2017 was an Early Dismissal day. Formal evaluations for all
teachers were completed.
Out-of-school tutoring was held during the last week of Fall break. Classes
resume on Monday October 16, 2017.
UPCOMING DATES
Honors Assembly will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017.
WPA Booster Club Meeting will be held on Monday October 23, 2017.
The week of October 23, 2017- October 30, 2017 will be celebrated as Red
Ribbon Week. This event culminates with students tying red ribbons around the
school premise.
WPA Fall Festival will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
On October 31, 2017 WPA will host our annual “Meet and Treat”.
Fall Picture Day is Monday, November 6, 2017.
WPA will be closed on November 10, 2017 in observance of Veteran’s Day.
