Discovery Centre Halifax, NS Bold, local and relevant The Discovery Centre in Halifax is boldly seizing a unique opportunity to relocate to the city’s waterfront. This new location, in an historic power station, will immerse the science centre in the region’s industrial heritage, while also placing it adjacent to a leading-edge energy corporation. The Discovery Centre is aiming high, to become an agent of change for the Martimes. In addition to featuring basic science exhibits, each gallery will address issues relevant to Nova Scotians. Topics include water, energy, transportation, health and innovation – all of great local relevance. The interpretive masterplan APA developed for the new Discovery Centre is designed with flexible use and fiscal sustainability in mind. A dome theatre will support a range of programming and provide needed infrastructure to the city of Halifax. This venue will be complemented by rentable event, programming, meeting and catering spaces. An inspiring atrium will create a focus for events and frame the science centre visitor experience, inviting repeat visits.
