Yangtze River Bridge

Built in 1955, the Yangtze River Bridge is more than just aesthetics as it is the

key connector to the three towns of Wuhan (Hanyang, Hankou and Wuchang). Head over to

the bridge tower at either end of the bridge to enjoy the marvellous panorama that includes the view of the bridge over the river and a distant view of Turtle Hill as

well as Yellow Crane Tower.

Guiyuan Buddhist TempleAlso known as the ‘Temple of Original Purity’, the whole complex is divided into five courtyards -

eastern, western, northern, southern and middle, and features exquisite architecture, finely-

sculpted gardens, as well as a great collection of Buddhist sutras and

treasures.

Steamed Wuchang FishWuchang fish is known for being fat, tender and aromatic, and the locals have come up with the perfect recipe to compliment it -- steamed together with mushrooms, bamboo shoots and soy sauce -- the end result is a sinfully sweet-smelling dish that pleases the tummy.

Re Gan Mian (Hot-dry noodles)Simple yet tasty, it is a favourite breakfast dish for the locals. Thick noodles are pre-cooked the night before and when you order, the only thing that the cook needs to do is to quickly boil it for 30 seconds and then toss with sesame paste, pickled vegetable, radishes, scallions and la jiao (spicy sauce).

MUST-VISITPLACESTerracota Army

In Xi’an lies the famed Terracotta Army, one of the most identifiable symbols of China. This form of funerary art is a collection of detailed terracotta sculptures depicting Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s army. Dating back to 210 BC, the

army guards the emperor in the afterlife.

The signature dish of Xi’an is a must-try experience by itself – flat unleavened bread broken into small pieces and lamb soup poured over the shreds along with meat, noodles or scallions, best served with pickled garlic or chilli. One can also opt for the beef version.

Demaogong Crystal PancakesWhen a dish survived 800 years of history, you know it’s THAT good. A specialty of Xi’an, the Qin-style cakes’ outer layer is firm while the “crystal” filling is soft and sweet. It was once

eponymous with bird’s nest, white fungus and Jinhua ham.

Big Wild Goose PagodaThe emblem of Xi’an -- the pagoda was built in 652 AD and additional five storeys were added by 704 AD. Here, you can find Buddhist scriptures and relics brought from India to China by eminent monk Xuanzang. Climb to the top of the pagoda to enjoy stunning city view, or stroll its pleasant parks and western eateries in the vicinity. Make sure you catch the water and music show at the front fountain daily.

The Great Mosque of Xi’AnIslam was introduced in China during the Tang dynasty, and the Great Mosque was constructed in 742 as the first mosque in the land. The architecture is heavily Chinese-influenced, with attractive pavilions and parks complementing the mosque’s complex.

Huaqing Hot SpringsLocated near the Huaqing Palace, take a nice warm dip in the many hot springs as you’re being surrounded by the picturesque Mount Li. The Tang emperor built a palace at the foot of Mount Li so he could frolic with his favourite Imperial Lady Yang. You can hop onboard the nearby cable car to catch a bird’s eye view of the entire area.
