• Living in a city is an idea about which people share differing opinions. Some are attracted to the bright lights and hustle and bustle of city life, but it also comes with some disadvantages.

• Choosing whether to live in a big city or a small town requires serious considerations of your lifestyle.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages includes: • Bad habits of youth.• Overcrowding.• Challenges to Infrastructure.• Stress. • Greater Spread of Illnesses.• Safety Concerns. • Traffic jam.• Pollution.

Bad habits of youth

• In the city money is admired and money is indeed the core of all evils.

• Some of the young fall into bad crowds, in a busy environment it’s easier to be introduced to smoking, drinking, gambling, drug taking etc.

Overcrowding

• As population density in cities increases, it leads to overcrowding.

• As more people join the cities rush each day increases, roads and freeways become crowded.

Challenges to Infrastructure • Increased movement of

people from rural to urban areas puts a strain on the city's infrastructure.

• The demand for housing is more than the supply of housing.

Stress• The fast pace of city life is

not for everyone. A faster pace can increase levels of stress.

• City living is associated with a stressful social environment as well as an increased risk of mental illness.

Greater Spread of Illnesses

• People who live in cities are constantly being exposed to an unhealthy lifestyle that leads to health problems.

Safety Concerns

• Crime figures for the city are always higher than that of rural areas.

• People who live in the city are exposed to a violent environment on the streets.

• Robbery, theft , stolen-auto, street crimes and murder have become common everyday occurrences in some cities.

Traffic Jam

• The traffic jam seems to destroy all inspiration of the living artist that lies in everybody.

• Ambulances and vehicles sometimes find it hard during rush hours.

Pollutions

In cities there are many kinds of pollution.

• Noise pollution.• Air pollution.• Water pollution.

Noise pollution• Noise that badly disturb

the activity or balance of human or animal life.

• High noise levels can contribute to cardiovascular effects in humans, a rise in blood pressure, and an increase in stress.

Air pollution• Air pollution is the

introduction of chemicals , particulates or biological material that causes discomfort.

Water pollution

• Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

• Water pollution affects plants and organisms living in these bodies of water.

garbage and gases from factories. It is always busy and noisy. It is hard to lead a healthy life in the city.
