Breanna's Gi is a non-profit organization that funds an arts program offering dance, art, music and theater classes for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. We cover the cost of teachers, dance shoes, costumes, and materials for art and music. The program is free to the families and facilities we serve.

www.breannasgift.org Annual Report 2015
Breanna’s Gift expands Art TakeoutTM with 800 more smiles in 2015. Breanna’s Gift classes in dance, visual arts, music and theater continued at Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Minnesota on Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, and University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital.
In 2015, we were privileged to work with over 1480 children and their families. In dance classes, children received 270 gifts including tap shoes, ballet slippers, tutus, costumes, castanets and more. Special workshops held during the year included the annual puppet workshop and summer drama camp which presented an encore performance of scenes from “The Wizard of Oz.” Breanna’s Gift sponsored The On-Time Circus, an outdoor puppet show held outside Ronald McDonald House and Children’s Minneapolis. With the help of Star Studio staff from Children’s Minnesota, the show was live streamed to hospital rooms on both hospital campuses. Summer found us bringing classes in dance and visual arts to Camp VIP, a week-long overnight camp experience for cancer kids and their siblings who are or have been patients at Children’s Minnesota. Close to100 participants made sock puppets and learned hip hop.
Our Art Takeout program for children too sick to attend classes in the playroom added a new project, Make a Mosaic. Now there are six ways to create from your hospital room. These projects are for children we work with in Twin Cities hospitals and are also sent to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Mayo Eugenio Litta Hospital in Rochester MN and, new in 2015, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando Florida. In 2015, we provided more than 800 ways to bring smiles to sick children.
Breanna’s Gift received a $5,000 Community Arts Grant from Metropolitan Regional Arts Council in December, 2015, which means January – May 2016 will be funded in part by appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Breanna’s Star, our annual fundraiser, received almost $20,000 of in-kind goods and services to support our event. After expenses of $8,100 we raised $35,300. In November, our board worked hard to bring new program awareness during Give to the Max Day and with the help of our supporters did just that, raising over $17,000.
None of this is possible without the help of generous donors and program advocates; you make our program possible . We thank you for helping us bring and receive smiles from so many children.
Sincerely,
Marsha Ovitz Founder and Executive Director
