Transcript of Director’s Letter - Stage Rightresources.stage-right.org/playbills/TheMiracleWorker...There will...

There are innumerable people involved in bringing the wonderful his-torical story of The Miracle Worker to fruition. The director is just a small part working in conjunction with instinctively talented actors and technicians. To all of those wonderful people I would like to express a sincere heartfelt thank you.

Since I was very young, I’ve been fascinated with Helen Keller and the story of her triumphant life with the constant assistance of Annie Sullivan. Researching for this show revealed to me the history of Annie and the events that shaped her life and created her character. The negative aspects of Annie’s life such as the early death of her mother and brother, an alcoholic father, rejection by family because of her eye disease, semi blindness and life in an asylum under investigation for neglect were utilized by God to dra-matically touch and transform the life of Helen. Due to Annie, Helen became one of the most influential women of her time.

My hope is that you are inspired by the story and that you touch the lives of those around you in a positive manner.
