Subject:- Reservation of Seats in Degree level technical courses for States I UTslacking in such facilities for academic sessions 2015-16.

Sir,

I am directed to state that this Ministry has an ongoing scheme of Reservation ofseats in Engineering I Technology I Architecture I Pharmacy courses conducted at Degreelevel technical institutions approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)and Universities for States and Union Territories (UTs) which do not have EngineeringColleges or lack facilities for education in specific fields of Techn1cal Education, and for

certain categories including foreign students.

2. At present, these supernumerary seats are available only 'for those students whoqualify JEE (Main) Examination. To bring transpnrency in the system and making it meritbased, the following procedure, which was followed for academic Yf:}ar 2014-15 also, is tobe adopted for the academic year 2015-2016 :-

The candidates may apply with CSAB-15 on recommendations of the nominatingagencies or directly apply with the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) -2015 under

the allotted quota for admissions against these seats.

(i)

The nominating agencies shall share SC, ST and OBCs % tllat is applicable in their

case with CSAB-2015;(ii)

.CSAB -2015 has to allot seats in these Colleges. The admissions against the saidse~ts would be made strict~y in accordance with merit arrivl3d at by provid~n~~-welghtage for performance In class XII Board marks normallsed on percentile basIsand the remainder weightage would be given for performance in JEE (Main)examination; and -=:--- ---

4.. The seats offered in private institutions, according to the AICTE's letter No.314-I/CCF/RES/94 dated 13.01.95 are free seats, over and above the sanctioned intake strength.These seats are supernumerary in nature and do not affect the total strength / intake of

students.
