As part of this mandate, WiDS offers a limited number of scholarships to exceptional graduate and post-graduate students. We are delighted that Meaghan Shoemaker is the recipient of the 2018 WiDS Memorial Scholarship and Lindsay Coombs the recipient of the 2018-2019 WiDS-CGAI Fellowship. This year the WiDS Memorial Scholarship honours Special Constable Nancy Puttkemery and will support Meaghan’s research on women’s participation in NATO and veteran transition to civilian life in Ontario. The WiDS-CGAI Fellowship, which represents a partnership between WiDS and the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, will support Lindsay’s research on military innovation in policy and training regarding child soldiers. Lindsay and Meaghan are both in the Political Studies PhD programme at Queen’s and are CIDP Graduate Research Fellows. In addition, Dr. Christian Leuprecht has been named to the Class of 1965 Professorship in Leadership at the Royal Military College for a period of 3 years, beginning 1 July 2018. Congratulations
