The English version of the books is now available on-line in pdf fillable format. There are also a number of one on one discipleship relationships that are being conducted. Staff Meetings Our staff meet every Tuesday at the office from 10:30-noon. The time is set aside for prayer, sharing quiet times as a staff and preparing for events and activities put on by Discipleship International. Currently we are focusing our time on prayer and preparation for ministry in 2016. Gospel Outreach Fundraisers Partnering with Willingdon Church in Burnaby Eugene McDonald who has just come on part-time staff with us has organized three Gospel nights, which include sharing the gospel using the bridge illustration and sharing about mission trips to Kenya, India and Mexico. These nights have been a tremendous blessing as the work of DI is introduced. The gospel is proclaimed and funds are raised for overseas missions.

Graduation Our graduation was held on June 20, 2015 at Fujian Evangelical Church with 40 graduates. Pastor Dan Bautista who was a graduate and Pastors a church in White Rock shared about perseverance in the faith. Next years graduation will be held at Olivet Baptist Church in New Westminster.

½ day of prayer The half-days of prayer were held at 5 Stones Church, Ross Road Community Church, Fraser Lands Church and Crossridge Church since the last report. We held a half-day of prayer for the first time at Crossridge Church in Surrey in March and had a good turn out of ETS students and people from Crossridge Church. Our plan is to return next year in March to have the ½ day of prayer there again. Our next half-day of prayer is on June 11th and will be held at two locations Ross Road Community Church in Abbotsford and Fraser Lands Church on Marine Drive in Vancouver.

Dan Schat a graduating student with the ministry Stand as One has taken the material into Malawi and they are now in Book 2. They meet on Skype each week to continue the training. Below is a list of trips coming up for the year 2016. Upcoming Mission Trips June 27 – July 15, 2016 – Monterrey, Mexico – George Baarschers July 2016 – Tehuacan, Mexico – Mauri Osorio

Nov/Dec. 2016 – Philippines – Chona Borres Nov/Dec. 2016 – India – Travis Whims Community of Hope, Soup Outreach, Seniors Ministry, UGM New Westminster and Salvation Army Abbotsford Our outreach partnerships continue to provide opportunity for our leaders and students to become active in what they are learning. We partner with local outreach ministries by providing meals and relationships in order to share the gospel. I was excited to see my young student Eric share his testimony at the Community of Hope. He is an introvert by nature so it was a big step of faith

Jason continues to lead a Bible Study at the New Westminster Union Gospel Mission drop-in on Monday afternoons. He is currently going through Book 2 of ETS with on of the men met at this study. Yagumber who graduated from ETS is now helping to lead the study. It is an amazing time of going through the scriptures with approximately ten people every Monday. Jason has currently also just started a study at Salvation Army Abbotsford on Thursdays using the same format of going through a Book of the Bible with understanding questions each week. Chona leads our Soup and Sandwich outreach taking leaders and students out to share the gospel and serve meals in the downtown East side. We have seen a number of people come to faith in Christ through this outreach. Belinda has been focusing on taking students out to hand out tracts and Bibles at local Sky Train stations. Having great discussions with people as they wait for their buses. We also partner with past student Mauri Osorio to share the gospel on the streets of Vancouver. DI Picnic Burgers and Hotdogs were on the menu. With volleyball, bouncy castles, lots of water games and tug of war everyone had a great time. It is a great venue to connect with graduates of the past and talk about what Christ is doing through our lives. We will once again be holding the picnic at Woodward’s Landing in 2016.

Dinner Fundraiser Our fifth annual Fundraiser we focused solely on the dinner portion of the event. We raised around $10,000 for the ministry and were able to cast vision to those in attendance about the work of Discipleship International. Barb Churcher shared about the start up of Discipleship International as the ministry has now officially existed over 20 years. For 2016 we are returning to a golf and dinner fundraiser. We will have Abhijit from Step Ministries sharing about discipleship in India and Harvey and Eve sharing about the work in the Philippines.

Christmas Party We had 50 people attend including staff, leaders and students at this year’s Christmas Party at 5 Stones Church in New Westminster. Jason led us in Christmas carolling, Bob and Lynn led Christmas Pictionary and we were served an awesome Christmas Dinner by a local catering group. Our plan is to hold the 2016 Christmas Party in the same location. Mission Fest Vancouver – We had a great presence at Mission Fest in January 2016. A number of new leaders worked at the booth inviting those passing by to quote a memory verse for a pen. We had a number of people sign up for groups and once again made potential partnerships for overseas missions and training as the Lord leads. We also connected with T4T training which is a discipleship program created by Ying Kai. The main focus that we can incorporate into ETS training is challenging people to share what they learn quicker in the training. In other words as soon as we teach someone to have a quiet time then give them the task of teaching someone else.

Way of the Master Basic and Intermediate Training Mauri Osorio a past graduate of ETS led two basic Way of the Master training sessions at the DI office in October 2015 and February 2016 and an Intermediate training session in March 2016. This training combines tools with practical examples of sharing the gospel and the potential road block that you will come up against. Each training session gets students out sharing the gospel on the street to practice what has been learned. New Brochure for Pastors We completed our brochure for pastors that specifically for Pastor’s and those asking questions about the ministry of Discipleship International.

How does my church get started?Contact the DI office to arrange a time to discuss getting the first discipleship group started. We will provide a trained leader who will begin the first group until those in your church are trained disciple makers.

It is the heart’s desire of DI board members, staff and leaders to see churches produce disciple producing disciples. The students’ perseverance results in a deeper relationship with Christ, evidenced by their phenomenal fruit. We desire to follow what Christ did, build into a small number of disciples and train them to do likewise. All our trainers are members in a local church body. Serving the local church body in their gifted areas and seeking to train up disciple making disciples.

What other pastors are saying...Do you desire to experience Jesus Christ in your every day life, living as His disciple? Make time and immerse yourself over the next two years in the spiritual disciplines of spending time with the Lord daily, memorizing His Word and sharing your faith in the context of an accountability group. The ETS discipleship training program will make a transformative difference in your life.

Pastor David Tsai, Fuijian Evangelical Church

Through Scripture memorization, solid biblical training and the encouragement and accountability of a small group, Equip To Serve does just what it says: it will equip you to effectively serve God with both real confidence and genuine joy wherever He leads you.

Jonathan Neufeld, Pastor of Adult Ministries, Willingdon Church

WHY SHOULDMY CHURCH

PARTNER WITH DISCIPLESHIP

INTERNATIONAL?

Intentional discipleship with Discipleship International (DI) has helped me to redeem what has been lost. The more I see what it was like in the beginning with God through the spiritual disciplines, I look forward to when Jesus returns. On my way to Jesus my DI leader’s life gave me an example of who Jesus is. Now through my training and spending intentional time together with those I disciple I am blessed to multiply that same effect. I get to make Christ known by showing God’s love and enjoying Him with others.

Bryan, Current Discipleship International leader

Translation Work Book 4 has been completed in Kikamba (Kenya), Book 6 in Tagalog (Philippines) and Book 6 in Spanish in 2015. We will continue to translate the remainder of the books in 2016 for Kikamba. We are currently starting to translate Book 1 into Ory (India) and are looking at translation into Burmese to partner with Dan Schat and One Way Minsitry in Burma.

Thank-you for your leadership and direction for Discipleship International. In Christ,

Travis Whims
