Director of Nursing – Autumn Health Care of Mt. Vernon This position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the nursing services

department to assure that the highest level of quality client care is maintained at all times in accordance with set standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards, including those set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Ohio Department of Health, and the Ohio Board of Nursing. Responsible for managing and monitoring fiscal resources; acting as a liaison between the facility and residents and their families; and staff scheduling, development, and satisfaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Monitors and ensures the provision of quality nursing care to residents with a resident-centered philosophy and in accordance with set standards, and all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines. Develops departmental objectives, policies and procedures in support of these regulations and guidelines and directs the implementation of such. Continuously stays abreast of changes in federal, state, and/or local expectations and revises procedures accordingly.

2. Reviews and approves plan of care for all residents upon assignment and renewal. Also reviews and approves any changes to the plan of care at all times.

3. Evaluates, monitors, and manages staffing levels and availability to ensure optimal quality of care. Ensures assigned staff are appropriate for level of care and services provided.

4. Provides leadership, development and work direction to the nursing staff. This includes selecting, orienting, coaching, performing in-services and training, providing performance feedback, disciplining, and termination of employees as necessary. Ensures continuous, effective, appropriate staff development and training via in-service programs tailored toward the specialized needs of home care patients and in accordance with regulatory standards and requirements.

5. Provides back up support to other Registered Nurses. 6. Implements and oversees infection control procedures to ensure resident and staff health and safety at all

times. This includes maintaining infection control log and ensuring all infection control standards are met and in compliance.

7. Continuously monitors and makes recommendations for adjustments as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the nursing department while maintaining fiscal integrity and responsibility.

8. Serves as a member of the management team of Autumn Extended Care 9. Leads and/or participates in facility surveys. 10. Performs all other duties as required. Requirements- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college of university with a current valid

registered nursing license in good standing with the State of Ohio. Must have a minimum of three-five years of full time clinical experience with at least two years experience in nursing supervision in a long term care environment. Must be able to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills and provide a positive attitude, direction and discipline for the Nursing Department.
