Director, Innovation and Performance

Position purpose
The Director, Innovation and Performance is accountable for building and promoting a
culture that embraces innovation. The Director will establish platforms and processes which
enable the organisation to generate, accelerate and realise innovative solutions that deliver
tangible benefits to students, staff and stakeholders.
Working as a trusted advisor and senior business partner, the Director leads a team of
internal business consultants whose mission is to support and deliver projects that challenge
existing business models, maximise performance and create new value. This position will
measurably advance the change agenda of the organisation and will play a lead role in
collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in implementing, monitoring, and
reviewing change initiatives.
The Director will ensure the organisation has access to sophisticated, reliable, high quality
data and reporting to support evidence based strategic planning and business decisions.
The Director will lead, motivate, support and develop a multidisciplinary team; ensuring the
delivery of high quality outcomes for the organisation. Critically, this role is accountable for
leading a collaborative customer orientated department that works effectively with the
broader organisation to deliver on key objectives.
Key areas of responsibility
Innovation:
Create and maintain processes that foster a culture of innovation at all levels of the
organisation.
Support and drive initiatives which create new value for the organisation including
new products and services, new market opportunities and innovative business
models.
Seek out new business development opportunities, strategic alliances and
partnerships, and explore alternative business options to best position the
organisation to maximise future opportunities.
Develop strong relationships with other participants in the innovation ecosystem,
including incubators and accelerators, to create new networks that can yield financial
and other resources for the GOTAFE innovation agenda.
Business Insights:
Provide sophisticated analysis to inform strategic planning, performance targets and priorities.
Establish processes to assist in identifying and evaluating emerging opportunities.
Perform analysis and provide insights into social, economic, sector and industry data
to inform business priorities.
Lead the provision of data analysis and reporting functions for GOTAFE.
Develop dashboard reporting and a data insight platform that provides value to the organisation.

Program Leadership:
Manage interdependencies and balance competing demands to ensure priority
objectives are delivered.
Ensure project and program management processes and systems are efficient,
effective and aligned to business needs.
Liaise with project stakeholders, vendors and services providers as required to ensure
the efficient delivery and maintenance of business solutions.
Business Performance:
Develop a performance reporting system which supports effective business planning, and monitors performance for the organisation.
Establish key performance indicators, and develop processes to monitor and report to these key performance indicators regularly.
Facilitate business planning processes across all business groups to support the successful achievement of strategic and business planning objectives.
Support the Executive in achieving the organisational strategic goals through reviewing performance against the strategic objectives and tracking of divisional work plans.

Lead and foster a team that is client-centric and a genuine partner for the wider
organisation.
Motivate and inspire a team that is curious, courageous and committed to success.
Establish a high performance culture that aims to deliver best imaginable service.
Establish and promote a collaborative and solutions-orientated division that works with

GOTAFE Organisational structure
GOTAFE’s senior leadership team is made up of the CEO, four Executive Directors and
seventeen Directors. All play key roles in influencing the culture and performance of
GOTAFE.
There are four key divisions in the GOTAFE structure:
Education – responsible for ensuring that GOTAFE provides the best possible education, training and learning experiences for all student cohorts across all education sectors.
Student Attraction and Community Engagement – responsible for the start of a student’s journey at GOTAFE and for ensuring that GOTAFE strategically engages with its key stakeholders across the community; including industry and community groups.
People & Innovation – responsible for ensuring that GOTAFE is an employer of choice and for cultivating a culture of innovation and strong organisational performance.
Corporate Services - responsible for the optimal performance of the internal operations of GOTAFE.
