JOB TITLE: Director Employee Health & Safety Programs and Standards DEADLINE: November 27, 2015 SALARY RANGE: Min.: $92,414 Mid.: $115,517 HAY POINTS: 805 DEPT/DIV: Safety Management Office SUPERVISOR: Senior Advisor for Corporate Safety Initiatives LOCATION: 2 Broadway HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 am 5:30 pm (7 1/2 hours/day)Summary

Direct a professional staff that will be monitoring and establishing programs focusing on the Healthand Safety of MTA employees across all agencies. Benchmark across agencies as well as welljournal reviews and industry best practice reviews. Responsible for ensuring established processesand programs meet minimal regulatory compliance while striving drive industry standards andachieve improved wellness programs across the MTA.Responsibilities

o Direct a review of the current status of employee health and safety programs at all agencies,including headquarters and MTA Police Department, and ensure gap assessments are performedon a continuous basis. o Develop and implement new employee health and safety initiatives and coordinate with medicalstaff and agency safety leads to implement new programs. o Ensure health and safety risk mitigation programs are introduced and related best practices arebeing shared across agencies. o Conduct medical journal reviews to ensure state of the art principals are being utilized asappropriate. o Perform medical journal reviews and work closely with local, regional and national healthagencies to ensure health and safety of MTA employees is being held paramount throughoutemerging medical issues. o Communicate with various MTA Departments and agencies on matters relating to project/programstatus and reporting, working closely with medical staff at MTA Headquarters to perform dataanalysis, review trends and develop appropriate reports and programs to capture and mitigateidentified risk. o Serve as a liaison between the safety management office and the medical staff and occupationalsafety and health staff at MTA Headquarters and MTA agencies to provide support and assistancewhere required, facilitating audit and oversight of these programs from a safety managementperspective.Qualifications

o Must possess the ability to build strong partnerships, engage, influence and drive change. o Strong project management skills (the ability to document and communicate project plans, monitorwork in progress, achieve project milestones/end results, for others to understand). o Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.Education and Experience

o Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field. Graduatedegree in public health, science, epidemiology or Occupational Health is preferred. o Must possess at least 10 years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health orEpidemiology. o An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. o Must possess progressively responsible experience managing a complex organization orprograms.Other Information
