Directions for In-House broadcasts To broadcast from the West Gym (old gym) 1. Set up a video camera in the gym and connect to coax input on the wall by the wrestling room door as follows: a. Connect Coax to wall by wrestling room door and run it to your camera (probably from under the bleachers and up to the seating area). b. B c. d. e. f. g. h. i. j. k. l. m. n. o. p. q. b. You may need to run an extension cord up from below the bleachers to the seating above for power. c. Attach the coax to the camera as follows: a. Plug the Coax into a Holland channel selector box. b. Plug in the camera and Holland box. c. Make sure the box is set to channel 85. d. Run AV out of the video camera into the Holland box.

You’ll probably need a stereo 1/8 inch jack to a left and right audio RCA adaptor for the audio.

2. Flip the switches in the custodial area. The box is on the wall by the custodian’s sitting area by the loading dock doors (near the west gym). Select as follows:

a. Video = in house broadcast b. Cable = cable TV signal

Note: If you want to broadcast to both buildings, flip both boxes. Otherwise, choose the building to which you wish to broadcast. (Make sure booster is plugged in.)

3. Disconnect or unplug the Coax from the Holland channel 85 box in the high school broadcast studio located in the back of the media center.

4. Disconnect the Coax from the Holland channel 85 box in the middle school broadcast studio located in the back of the media center.

5. Turn TV’s to Channel 85. The signal from the gym should now

be broadcasting to all TV’s set to Channel 85.

6. To return to normal cable signal, reverse the process.

a. Reconnect the Coax cables in both media centers. b. Switch the box in the custodian’s area back to cable. c. Disconnect camera set-up in west gym.

To broadcast DCTV or other in-house broadcasts from the high school media center studio. Announcements from the computer:

1. AV video from computer to Holland box.

2. Set selector box in black cabinet to Cable.

For other broadcasts:

1. Hook up camera, DVD player or other device to the other Holland box.

2. Holland box should be hooked up to coax from ceiling that goes school-wide.

3. Set selector box in black cabinet to A/V.

To broadcast from the PAC or East Gym

1. Set up a video camera and connect the coax to coax inputs on the wall. In the gym, the connections are on the wall at top of the center stairs on the bleachers. In the PAC booth, the coax input is on the south wall by the black cabinets.

Set the PAC lobby TV broadcast source. e. Go to the storage room next to the

handicapped bathroom on the PAC lobby and select the appropriate switch setting.

f. A—to send signal from PAC booth to the PAC lobby TV’s.

g. B—to send signal from East Gym to the PAC lobby TV’s.

h. B—to send signal from any other broadcast in the school (other than PAC) to lobby TV’s.

3. Choose the broadcast source to send to the school buildings.

a. Locate this switch in the storage room at the south side of the new (east) gym.

b. Choose A for PAC broadcast. c. Choose B for North side of gym broadcast. d. Choose C for South side of gym broadcast.

Note: Make sure the amplifier is plugged into AC outlet.

To go from gym to PAC In gym storage room, disconnect the line going into the switch on the far left (PAC) and plug it into the booster “in.” You will need to pull the current wire from the booster first. This will send the signal from the PAC to the school instead of the signal from the gym.

Jim’s summary after rewiring PAC and East Gym. Suggested steps to feed video/audio to HS and MS TV’s 1—Turn off Channel 85 modulators in HS and MS announcement rooms. 2---Hook up camera/channel 85 modularor/and amplifier to one of these new input jacks. 1-PAC area gym upper north bleachers coax outlet. 2-PAC area gym upper south bleachers coax outlet. 3-PAC sound booth coax outlet 3 In the Gym band storage room select the corresponding switch on the A/B/C switch A for PAC audio booth B for upper north bleacher jack C for upper south bleacher jack ( make sure amplifier is plugged into AC outlet ) 4 In the HS custodial room select video on the A/B swiches HS or MS or both ( make sure amplifier is plugged in ) 5 To have video and audio on the PAC lobby tv’s go to the PAC custodial storage room and select B on both A/B switches

Gym Switch: Only needed to choose source for video. PAC Switch: Only needed to choose source video for PAC lobby. Custodial Switch: Only needed to choose type of feed (cable or video) and destination for that feed (MS or HS).
