Directions: Day 1
• Page B42—B47• Break students into 6 groups.• Assign a rock type to each group.• Students will fill in information using map activity. Students
must be prepared to answer the following questions:• 1. What is the definition of your rock?• 2. How is the rock formed?• 3. How is the rock used? ( except for sedimentary).• 4. What are some examples of this type of rock?• If time permits have teams who have the same rock compare
information.
Day 2
• Have teams finish comparing their maps and prepare to present information to the class and choose representatives to present to class.
• Have groups share and fill in information on smartboard tree map, while the remainder of the class fills in the new information.
• If time permits have each student write a summary of one rock type. (paragraph)
