2004 Pyridine derivatives Pyridine derivatives R 0380 Direct Methylation and Trifluoroethylation of Imidazole and Pyridine Deriva- tives. — Direct methylation or trifluoroethylation of imidazole and pyridine derivatives (I) and (IV) using N-methyl bis((perfluoroalkyl)sulfonyl)imides (II) or trifluoroethyl phenyliodonium bis((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl)imide (VI) affords high yields of the corresponding salts (III), (V) and (VII).
