If the devil is in the details, there’s a lot of wicked fun in Angels & Demons, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code. The edge-of-your-pew thrills all over the Vatican, the City of Rome, and the deepest, darkest catacombs. Professor Robert Langdon, is summoned urgently to Rome on a matter of utmost urgency--which happens to coincide with the death of the Pope, meaning the Vatican is teeming with cardinals and Rome is teeming with the faithful.

Based on a story by author Ryne Douglas Pearson, KNOWING is a moody sci-fi thriller. John Koestler, a widowed MIT astrophysicist who lives in wooded seclusion with his young son, Caleb. When Caleb is handed an envelope unearthed from a school time capsule

buried 50 years earlier, its cryptic numerical sequence captures the interest of his dad, who soon realises the powerful significance of the document, which seems to predict major

world disasters throughout history.

It is 709AD and Norway is in a state of unrest; tensions between Viking clans threaten to spill over into all-out war. However, in-fighting is the least of their worries when, from out of nowhere, an alien spacecraft crash-lands on to their territory, bringing with it a danger far greater than they could possibly imagine. Emerging from the wreckage is Kainan, a soldier from a distant planet who they mistake for an enemy and take prisoner.

Brazil - famous for its beautiful beaches, beautiful people and rich rainforests, is the largest country in South America and undoubtedly the most colourful and diverse. The country has a unique energy and we here at Ipanema would like to share this vibrancy with you, introducing you to some of the flavours and sounds of this most beautiful country.

This Brazilian inspired restaurant offers slow roasted and perfectly seasoned cuts of beef, lamb, pork, chicken and Brazilian sausages. The hallmark of rodizio is the style in which the meat is cooked over the grill. This technique comes from Southern Brazil, where the gauchos once cooked on an open camp-fire.

At Ipanema, the skilled servers journey through the restaurant with the grilled meats on sword like skewers taken from the grill, stopping at each table to carve slices for diners. This style of service allows guests to experience a variety of offerings. The Prime Rodizio option on the menu also includes unlimited visits to our extensive buffet, serving a host of Brazilian specialities and international offerings.

Raw Cacao has the highest antioxidant value of any food and can rightfully be classed as a “superfood”. Antioxidants mop up the free

radicals in our bodies and thus protect cellular health. They are measured by “ORAC” value (oxygen radical absorption capacity) and governments generally recommend around 7000 on a daily basis. Raw cacao has 26,000 per 100 grams, which is the equivalent of 4 days of the recommended daily amount.

The problem with the chocolate bars we are currently offered (and almost all of us buy) is that a large proportion of the goodness has been lost in all the processing by the food companies, who also add unnecessary amounts of sugar, and the result is that we are left just craving more.

Its true; Chocolate can be healthy

In Ancient cultures, chocolate was considered to be the food of the Gods and treated with reverence for its health giving properties. Cacao contains a unique range of properties and minerals, which can help with healthy cellular function, cardiovascular disease, increased mental alertness and even weight loss! It is also diabetic friendly!

What a wonderful way to protect our health; eating something that almost everyone loves. The end of that guilty feeling when we secretly tuck into the bar we hid from the rest of the family or eat more than our fair share, and the end of all that painful worry that we will also be putting on extra weight, that we know we shouldn’t. This food is really a gift from the Gods. The good news is that raw chocolate will soon be available in Spain.

Usage And Benefits

The Goji Berries are regarded in Tibet as the Fruit of longevity, strength- building and well being. It is very high in ion anti-oxidants and many health-giving properties. Peoples’ mood’s brighten, they sleep better and some even experience increased libido.

According to Legend, goji berries (Lycium Eleganus) were discovered by a doctor during his study of an ancient society living in a remote region of the Himalayas in Tibet. He found that some members of this society lived well over 100 years, in great health and strength. They had no grey hair, and never lost their teeth. He eventually discovered that these people all lived near a well where the ripe goji berries fell into the water and their nutrients dissolved and were then drunk by the locals.

Dr. Earl Mindell, pharmacist, herbalist and professor of nutrition in LA, believes that as consumption increases, goji berries will have more powerful benefits on health, well-being and anti-aging than any other product he has seen in years.

After many detailed trials with elderly people, they discovered after 3 weeks of eating the berries they all felt more optimistic, happier and healthier, 95% slept and ate better and 35% experienced improved sexual function.

Start your day with Goji Berries 20 to 40 (2-3 gms) berries are recommended daily .Eat them as is, or add to hot or cold cereal, a smoothie, water, etc to easily get your vitamin and nutrient needs with this delicious super-food. A daily intake of Goji berries is 10-30 grams (a small handful) is even more beneficial.

The Goji berry (Lycium Eleganus) is considered to be the most potent of the many varieties of the botanical Lycium,. It grows in the remote, unpolluted hills and valleys of Tibet and Mongolia in extremely nutrient-rich soil without chemicals or pesticides, and is recognized as having the highest nutrient content of all the 80 varieties of Lycium.

It is not to be confused with the Chinese Wolfberry (Lycium barbarum) which, though distantly related to the Goji, has a different genetic make-up and grows in a different environment.

The plants grow like bushes with vines that reach over 15 feet. The berries are never touched by hand as they will oxidize and turn black if touched while fresh. They are shaken onto mats, then dried in the shade. These berries are wild-crafted in accord with the most stringent organic growing standards, hence contain, we believe, more nutrient energy than other cultivated varieties, such as the Wolfberry.

You can find us on Calle Alvarez Quintero 3, La Linea (opposite the fish market).

Goji Berries

Goji berries are so honored as a longevity food that to this day, there is an annual two-week festival to celebrate its many health-giving properties.

Varietales at a Pure StageThe Martinez Bujando family, originally from the Rioja region, have great traditions within the world of wine. In 1998 they decided to acquire a plot of land between the provinces of Cuenca and Toledo, right in the heart of the Mancha D.O. The regulation for the D.O. regions are to use a certain type of grape, obligating the wine cellar to opt for wines from the Tierra de Castilla (Castille lands).

There is now a demand for wines made in the New World style using national and international grape varieties at the stage when they are ripe for picking. This provides the creation of the ‘Infinitus’ range. These are young wines, with lots of fruity flavours, that demonstrate the variety of each grape flavour.’Infinitus’ Gewurztraminer is a prime example of this style.

Yellowish-hay in colour, it has good solid ‘legs’ and maintains an intense aromatic character; with various hints of rose petals, jasmine and white flowers. On taste it has similar results, smooth and long lasting, silky and fresh.

Sendero: LaMarismasdePalmones

This area is located in the North-Western sector of the Bay of Gibraltar, in the municipalities of Los Barrios and Algeciras. It includes several

biotypes such as the estuary, a shoreline backed by sand dunes, pasturelands, wetlands, cultivated plots, and other areas of minor importance.

Its mouth, even though it is located on the Mediterranean side of the Strait (theoretically conditioned by low tidal influences), denotes, due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, differences between high and low tide that are more noticeable than those produced at the nearby mouth of the river Guadiaro. Therefore, the predominant biotype at Palomes is a Mediterranean estuary that has Atlantic features, which includes a 60 ha. extension of consolidated mud flats, cut by numerous channels and streams with soft mud, lacking in vegetation, which surface to a certain extent at some low tides.

A layer of vegetation based on halophytes covers this mud. Some formations of maritime reeds, which are very characteristic within the marshes, grow at the transition limits of channels and streams, showing the narrow range of tides in this area.

The bird species that you can find in this Nature area include Greater Flamingo, Spoonbill, Osprey, and a variety of shorebirds, all during migration and winter.

Access to this area is through El Rinconcillo (Algeciras), although there are also interesting

observation points from Palmones.

TheMartinsContinuing direct magazine’s guide to the birds of the Campo de Gibraltar

House Martin / Avión Común / Delichon Urbica

Abundant summer visitor to urban areas, contrasting blue-black upper parts and white underparts. They have a short notched tail, white rump, grey under the wings, and totally feathered legs. They build their nests in the shape of a closed cup with a narrow entrance, forming colonies on buildings, site fidelity is strong.

Crag Martin / Avión Roquero / Ptyonoprogne Rupestris

Common resident in steep craggy areas, more abundant and extensive during the winter. Easy to identify thanks to its greyish-brown colour, darker on wings and tail, paler on underparts, a short and non forked tail with white spots near its end that are only visible in flight.

Sand Martin / Avión Zapador / Riparia Riparia

Common migrant, similar to the House Martin with light greyish-brown upper parts and white underparts with a brownish breast band. In flight they have a dark under wing covert.

Castellar de la Frontera in the XVIII Century

The XVIII century was a period characterized by the Seige of Gibraltar by British Forces and the fights between Spain and the United Kingdown

to gain ownership.

Castellar de la Frontera played an important role in this contest, as it collaborated in the war by sending people to fight and by providing wood from its forest to warm the troops during the winter. Castellar also participated in other tasks and assistance during the war period.

Castellar forests were an important economic resource for the inhabitants of the village. Wood, charcoal and cork were extracted from it’s trees in order to be exported. Nevertheless, and in spite of this activity, poverty was very prevalent during the whole century.

Due to the poverty existing in the XVIII century, a common activity started in the whole area: brigandage and smuggling. Castellar became an important point as a base for the goods coming from Gibraltar. They were then delivered throughout the mountains. The smuggling existing in Campo de Gibraltar area was born in order to survive rather than for enrichment.

XVIII century was also a period of other difficulties and penuries for Castellar. It was also a time of illnesses, which could not be treated due to the lack of medicines and other means. This situation was worsened by poor harvests. However, step by step, the village was incorporating some improvements as the result of a type of reform carried out by the Bourbons and, as a consequence, some changes could be seen.

In 1792, a teacher was contracted for the first time in Castellar de la Frontera. This meant that children could start having an education. The main mission of this educator was to teach the poor children of the village.
