Dimitar Popnikolov was born on 07. 12. in 1880 in Karahadar, Lozengrad. In 1900 he graduated from high school in the Bulgarian men’s high school. In 1908 he graduated from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski – philosophy, pedagogy and history. Two years later he specialized in Switzerland, France and Belgium. After returning to Bulgaria, he worked in the ministry of education and devoted his life to Parents’ Associations.

88 School Dimitar Popnikolov was established on 20th May ,1994.The Director of 88 school is Ms. Milena Peneva, who was appointed after a competition in 1995. At the beginning there were 403 students and 21 teachers. For a short time the school was recognized as contemporary one with modern technology. It meets the requirements of parents and became a favorite school in the region of Ovcha Kupel.
