JacobBlaustein,formerpresidentofAJC,ina1963DagHammarskjldMemorialLecture,firstconceptualizedthepositionofHighCommissionerforHuman Rights,whichwasfinallyimplementedattheUNthirtyyearslater.

ThetimedevotedtodebatingandpassingtheresolutionsrelatingtotheArabIsraeliconflictisdisproportionatetoanyothersituationintheworldandtherebyperpetuatestheinstitutionalbiasagainstIsraelat theUN.
TheUnitedNations,bothinitsNewYorkandGenevacenters,hostsanumberofbodiesdedicatedtopreservingandadvancingaonesidedviewof
theArabIsraeliconflict.
ThoughIsraelhasremainedaUNmemberingoodstandingsince1949,itissystematicallydiscriminatedagainst,contradictingtheveryprinciplesuponwhichtheUNwasbased.
Therehavebeenmorecommitteesformed,morespeechesmade,more resolutionsadopted,andmoreresourcesspentcondemningIsraelthanonanyothernation.

Gillerman,waselectedoneofthetwentyonenewvicepresidentsoftheGeneralAssembly,thefirsttimeIsraelhasheldthatpositioninmorethanhalfacentury.
InJuly2005,IsraelwaselectedtodeputychairmanshipoftheUnitedNationsDisarmamentCommission(UNDC).IthasalsobecomeamemberoftheGoverningCouncilsoftheUnitedNationsEnvironmentalProgramme(UNEP)andtheUnitedNationsHumanSettlementsProgramme(UNHABITAT),aswellasamemberoftheCommissiononNarcoticDrugs.
ThroughitsWEOGmembershipinNewYork,IsraelhasplacedabidforaseatintheSecurityCouncilfor2018.Sinceitgainedmembershipin1949,IsraelhasneversatontheSecurityCouncil.
