Current Servicing and Treatment Arrangements

1. No reticulated sewerage system 2. Hotels, Restaurants, Government buildings have either

septic/seepage or pump out tanks 3. All educted sewage is carted to lagoons 4. Sludge lagoons are full and overflowing 5. Lagoons are on the site of a new 6 star resort to be

developed 6. A new STP is being built at Tibar further west based on

anaerobic tanks, filtration then aquaculture

Servicing Options, Pathways

1. Pit toilets collecting faecal and urine waste 2. Urine diverting dehydration toilets. (UDDT)3. Seepage pits – squat toilet waste to pits and sullage to drains (as exists in Dili) 4. Collection tanks/pits for pump out (widely used in Dili) 5. Septic Tanks – for toilet and sullage waste (some of Dili)

• supernatant to drains or seepage• supernatant collected and treated locally i.e. Kinglake

6. Septic tanks for a number of houses with: • filtration and effluent discharge to seepage or open drains• treat with reed beds and reuse for Kankung and final effluent reuse or to drains

7. Local or integrated reticulated sewerage system with gravity, pumps and pressure sewers discharging to: • local plants with possible reuse• remote treatment
