Where everything starts …The Olympic Games were originally called “Ancient Olympic Games” and were held in Olympia, Greece, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AC.

Many things happened in the middle, but finally in the 17th century the name of this event changed as we know it nowadays.

These three words encourage the athlete to give his heart or her best during competition, and to view this effort as a victory in itself.

To better understand the motto, we can compare it

with the following well-known phrase: the most important thing is not to

win but to take part.

Femenine Pole Vaulting

Pole vaulting is a track and field event in which a person uses a long, flexible pole as an aid to leap over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the ancient Greeks, as well as the Cretans and Celts An interesting fact it is that it has

been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and not for women until 2000

The first Olympics covered by U.S. television was the 1960 Summer Games in Rome by CBS.

The three continents Africa, South America, and Antarctica have never hosted the Olympic games.

The oldest Olympic medalist was Oscar Swahn of Sweden, he won his last medal at the age of 72.
