Analogue vs Digital

AnalogueAnalogue is describe as device a or system that represents changing values as continuously variable physical quantities. An example of analogue technology is a watch. A clock is capable of indicating every possible time of day. Where as a digital clock is capable of representing only a number or time.

Examples of Analogue technology:

• Old radios • Megaphones• Volume control on old telephones

DigitalDigital describes electronic technology that generates, stores, and processes data. Digital technology is a type of transfer that involves breaking a message or form of communication between two machines down into binary code. Digital technology uses digital code to transmit signals and information between different devices. This can be done with things like television programs or human voices.

• TV's • Mobile phones • Tablets • Computers

AnalogueAdvantages of analogue technology:

Analogue is much cheaper than digital technology and the signals are still used for many systems today. Cassette players are still in production today they are used for audio books for the blind and they are equipped in braille so that they can read them. Tube amplifiers are part of analogue technology and they have a much higher level of distortion than digital technology. They have very little errors compared to digital technology.

Disadvantages of analogue technology:

Analogue is unreliable compared to digital. Digital understands more things and are capable of more than analogue. Not many people buy analogue technology any more so it is not very popular. Things like cassette players are harder to find compared to CD’s or MP3 players. And they are heavier than Mp3 players.

DigitalAdvantages of Digital technology:

Digital technology allows you to do things like maintain you bank account form your phone they are also kept to keep track of bills. Computers are good because many people use them to watch movies and listen to music and play games. Phones allow you to communicate with people all over the world they also help people feel safe because they know where loved ones are. Digital technology gives people freedom to be able to do what they want. Digital technology makes lives easier because you can access so many things from the comfort of your own home.

Advantages of Digital technology:

The disadvantages of digital technology are hackers because phones and computers aren’t very secure and this means people can steal your identity and steal things from you. And steal private information about you. Digital technology causes many distraction’s e.g. when people are doing homework or something important digital technology distracts them.
