Trixell detection technology: the heart of thesystem

Pixium detectors are made by Trixell, a joint venture ofThales, Siemens and Philips. As a pivotal component indigital systems, these detectors are a key to the quality of radiological images in clinical settings. Pixiumdetectors are based on a cesium-iodide scintillator, fora high degree of X-ray absorption, plus an amorphoussilicon active array, which detects the light generatedby the CsI cells, and dedicated low-noise electronics.

Distinguished consulting firm Frost & Sullivan awardedits 2006 Global Excellence of the Year in digital radiography detector technology to Trixell.

Digital images that combine high quality and low doses

The quality of a digital image is defined by a combinationof its detection quantum efficiency (DQE), indicatingimage sensitivity, contrast, resolution and electronicnoise, and pixel pitch. Pixium detectors combine highDQE with 143-micron pixels for detection capability thatreveals the smallest anatomical details for extremely precise diagnosis on any type of X-ray exam.

In a 2006 study, the British National Health Service’sPurchasing and Supply Agency (NHS PASA) confirmedthat Pixium detectors offer the highest DQE.

The advantages of digital radiology

The new Pixium flat-panel digital detectorsare at the heart of all-digital imaging systems. They are based on cesium-iodidetechnology (CsI Pixium®), considered as theindustry benchmark. Thales offers X-ray system manufacturers solutions that givepractitioners top-quality real-time images, with low radiation doses for patients.

Complete radiological imaging solutions

By combining Pixium flat-panel digital detectors with image preprocessing softwarethat handles image acquisition, calibration and formatting, Thales provides a complete detection function that is easy to integrate in X-ray systems and delivers higher image quality for more accurate diagnoses.

New PixRad software simplifies multi-configuration management

The new PixRad software developed by Thalessupports a number of different configurations, using either a single detector or combinationsof several detectors (Pixium Portable 3543,Pixium RAD 4600). This feature greatly facilitates the management of our entire range of X-ray detectors, bothcurrent and future.

Thales’ digital radiography solutions provide a host of advantages for radiologists, X-ray technicians and patients alike. Advantages for the radiologist: fast, accurate diagnosis, enhanced resourcesmanagement

• Images displayed in just a few seconds• High-quality images right from the first shot• Excellent resolution• Large-format image for any type of exam: lungs, pelvis, limbs, skeleton, etc.

• Computerized processing of patient data (integration in PACS – Picture Archiving and Communication Systems)

• Increased patient throughput• More efficient use of resources and return on investment.

Advantages for the patient: speed, protection, comfort

• Radiation dose reduced by 50%• Faster exams• Greater technician availability• X-rays do not have to be re-shot.

Advantages for the X-ray technician: easier operation, greater availability

• Greater availability to help patients• Easy to use• No more bulky film handling.

Pixium RAD 4600: the benchmark in large-format 100% digital imaging

The Pixium RAD 4600, the world’s first large-format digital detector, has been chosen by a number of X-ray equipment manufacturers worldwide. Acknowledged as the global benchmark in this market, the Pixium RAD 4600meets requirements for a wide range of X-rays,including thorax, abdomen, skeleton and limbs.

Pixium Portable 3543: the world’s firstwireless digital imaging solution

The Pixium Portable 3543 detector is the world’sfirst portable digital imaging solution with a wirelessWiFi connection, designed for all types of X-ray exams. It is particularly well suited for usewith immobilized patients, in operating rooms, intensive care units, emergency situations, androoms for exams requiring difficult or unusual X-ray projections.
