Islamic Republic of Pakistan

• Creation of a DRM Steering Committee February 2015 • Installation of two DRM capable transmitters (400 kW and 100KW) • Installation of a 500 kW by the end of 2015 • PBC Director General Samina Pervaiz said in May 2014 that medium wave transmission would be revived in Karachi, Multan, Hyderabad and Larkana • PBC decision to strengthen its signals and modernise its broadcasting system

• DRM adopted by presidential decree in April 2010 • DRM30 tests - positive results and reports submitted to ITU http://www.itu.int/md/R12-WP6A-C-0350/en - Short Wave trial in North of Russia: 3 transmission sites: Akhangelsk, Novosibirsk and Krasnodar - SFN network to cover large territories: 2 transmission sites in the area of Moscow: Krasnodar (30 kW) and Kaliningrad (15 kW) - Local SFN network in Moscow at 26 MHz: 2 transmission sites : Kurkino (500 W) and MTUSI (100 W) Excellent results: key finding: 1 AM transmitter = 167 VHF/FM transmitters

• Last 2 years - growing interest in DRM in (Southern) Africa • DRM30 tests started or in preparation in several countries • SW DRM transmissions form Ascension in October 2011, July 2013, April 2014 and March 2015 • Increasing African countries attracted to DRM broadcasting benefits (such as Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia) • Algeria adopted DRM and installed transmitters in 2013 • Nigeria adopted DRM and is broadcasting for abroad from Abuja since March 2012 with increased DRM output since May 2014 • Mozambique (adopted DRM), Zambia, Botswana, (Tanzania) showing great interest
