History
Disadvatages of traditional photography:
- film photography needs too much time;- limited access to laboratories;- you have to process all your photos and file them all together because they are all on one roll of film;- photos must be processed before you can view them;- image quality can be poor if you use fast films or do not take care in how you take pictures;- necessity of scanning photos before computer processing;

Building of Digital Camera
Digital Camera is powered by small rechargable batery, and pictures are stored on memory card, which is built-in or is removable. Every card has different storage capacity like 16MB 32MB 64MB 128MB or even 512MB.
To take one picture in 1600x1200 resolution we need about 1MB of memory, if resolution is smaller then picture waight less. e.g.
to keep 32 photos on 16MB MEMORY CARD we need to set resolution in our camera like 1024x768 if resolution is set 640x480 this amount is growing to 80 photos. So we can see that if quality is small then we can do keep more photos, we need to chose… good look or amount…

Digital Photography
How does it work?
To make good picture we need to have good camera and good light, if objects which we are going to pohotograph is not illuminate enough, then picture will be in poor quality.When we have good light then we can start taking photos. So how does it realy works ? Let see…
The light focused in lens is falling on a CCD (Changed-Coupled Device) Matrix which consist of milion light-sensitive cells. These cells electrify in different way depending on range of visible light.

Features of digital photographsformat of images
Most digital cameras store images in one of three formats:
• JPEG• TIFF• CCD RAW.

Features of digital photographsformat of images
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)pronounced "jay-peg"
• describe the JFIF file format (JPEG File Interchange Format)
• JPEG images have two distinctive features:• uses a lossy compression scheme;
• supports 24-bit color.

TIFF (Tag Image File Format) pronounced "tiff"
• developed to save images created by scanners, frame grabbers, and photo editing programs;
• a popular format for desktop publishing applications;
• TIFF files support up to 24-bit colors.

Features of digital photographsformat of images
CCD RAW (.CRW)
• smaller file size written by the camera;
• raw, unprocessed data;
• raw data can be processed into a final image on a powerful desktop computer.

We also need program which can store and arganize our galeries. It is usually included on CD with drivers to USB Cable.
Transfer is fast and after succesful copy photos to disk all photos are erased from memory card.

Cropping
The original image has too much dark space around the center of interest.
Cropping, cuts out the dark areas, leaving just the interesting part of the image.

Color Balance and Saturation

Digital Photography
Advantages & Disadvantages
+ We can preview photo in any time we want without using special laboratories
+ We can use computer to correct some scratches in our photos
+ We can make many fotos, watch them and erase for free
+ We can send photos via e-mail imediately after we took it.
+ If we have large storage capacity memory card we can make many photos without changing a film
+ If it’s necessary we can repeat our photography
- Digital Cameras are more expensive than traditional stuff (memory card, camera, bateries)
- Durability of ink-jet printout is lower than traditional photos
- Resolution of digital camera is still lower than traditional 35mm films.

Digital Photography
Future
If we look in near future we can predict that digital photography dominate traditional ways of making photos.
Cameras and stuff prices will be decrease, and all these gear will be cheaper.
Probably someone invent that kind of photo storage which will be more durable than CD’s and normal paper.
Cameras will be also smaller and quality of pictures will be better
Typical cameras will be used by our grandparents and parents but new generation do not expire: „What is traditional photography…”
