Digital Hot Water Generation and
Control Solutions
Armstrong blends revolutionary digital water temperature control technology with modular high efficiency semi-instantaneous condensing water heater design to deliver Flo-Ēco® - an application engineered gas fired water heating and control solution.
The Armstrong intelligent system design first selects The Brain - Model DRV80 as the digital system controller. DRV80 will coordinate and direct the re-circulation system flow through the water heating component and the distribution out to and back from the building re-circulation system.
The maximum simultaneous hot water system demand calculation used to select the DRV80 will also be influential in selecting the number of high efficiency water heating 199,000 btu - 50 gallon capacity modules required to sustain the buildings peak hot water demand period.
The Flo-Ēco individual water heating modules are compact and designed to ease mechanic room ingress. The modules have been independently tested to ANSI standard Z21.10.3 and certified to perform at 97% thermal efficiency.
Each module can be seamlessly vertically integrated, typically to a maximum of three onsite inside a single space saving footprint.
Flo-Ēco - Engineered Hot Water Generation and Digital Control Solutions are supplied with a complete performance guarantee and an inclusive five-year warranty on all component parts.

Hot Water System SizingFlo-Ēco® Hot Water Generation and Digital Control Solutions are designed to be installed as complete systems inclusive of both the hot water generation and hot water system control components.
It is important to understand the impact to the hot water system offered by The Brain – Model DRV80, particularly with respect to maintaining system temperatures while the hot water generation component is in recovery.
Armstrong technical support will have sizing tools available to assist with the selection of the requisite components so that optimal performance levels are achieved.
Step 1: Establish the recirculating hot water systems peak demand flow rate.
Step 2: Establish the recirculating hot water systems set point (typically 120°F)
Step 3: Establish how long the system recirculating hot water system will need to sustain peak demand (typically 30 – 60 minutes).
Step 4: Establish the water heater set point (typically 140-160°F)
Step 5: Select the number of Flo-Ēco Water Heater Modules required to both generate and provide a stored supply so that at the conclusion of the selected peak demand time period (Step 3) the recirculating hot water system does not drop below set point (Step 2).
Step 6: Select the Digital Mixing Center (DMC). It will be supplied as a pre-piped assembly specially configured to integrate onsite with either the double or a triple (plus) module Flo-Ēco water heating system selected in Step 5.
Step 7: When a maximum of six Flo-Ēco Water Heater Modules is reached add an optional Hot Water Storage Tank.
Step 8: If a Hot Water Monitoring System is desired add BrainScan. BS1 = temperature. BS2 = temperature and pressure.
