OpenChannelResident Safety Network2018 — ongoing
This device is a two screen solut ion aimed at gett ing homebound res idents on the pr ior i ty l i s t of responders dur ing a disaster in a cheap, easy, low bandwidth and relevant way.
This two part system has a touch screen in the home of each homebound res ident that shows up on a map screen at the responder command centers dur ing a disaster. Instead of bandwidth intensive telephony which may be disabled dur ing a disaster anyway, OpenChannel i s a four button solut ion that provides the t imely and relevant status of vulnerable res idents without st ress ing exist-ing communication systems, whi le also enhancing responder s i tuat ional awareness on typical map screen.

Experimental Photo ExhibitSensory Exper ience In Space2019
Photographer: @logan_nortonTechnical Coordinator: @fewnew Sound Designer: @ericawobbles
Using precisely t imed spotl ights and an audio instal lat ion, we researched on how people exper ience photographs and wether they feel dif ferent ly about them based on what sounds they are l i s tening to in that moment.
The l ight tower housed the Ardunios and the var ious electronics in use. Our unique system would turn on one spotl ight at a t ime as wel l as randomly playing one out of 16 designat-ed audio f i les. The numbers associated with each audio track, was displayed on a screen and viewers would record this number for the survey dur ing the vis i t .

Evolutionary FusionFusing the real/vi r tual + physical/digitalIn progress
Evolut ionary Fus ion is a mixed real i ty exper i -ence; designed to inhabit both the vi r tual and physical realms—where i t represents the fol lowing concepts:* Technology changing what i t means to be human* Disembodiment and altered consciousness
Wearable technology is taking us one step closer to being cyborgs. Once the part ici-pant wears the VR headset, they are blocked off f rom their actual surroundings; instead, they are immersed in a pseudo-real s imulat ion. Their mind wi l l bel ieve what their eyes see and their ears hear.
The part icipant wi l l have an out-of-body exper ience in VR. I wi l l create i l lus ions for them to be at t imes more or less aware of their phys ical body, by inter facing direct ly with the human senses and mater ial real i ty.

WebVRFloat ing On Never land2018
Designing for v i r tual real i ty within the conf ines of a web browser makes i t access ible to any person with a smartphone. F loat ing On Never land was developed us ing open-source web frameworks such as Three. js and Aframe. The models were created in Maya and some were col lected from 3D archives with Creative Commons l icenses. Once viewed through a Cardboard VR headset, you are immersed within a fantast ical environment which includes landmarks and monuments f rom my hometown, Tehran.

Generative AnimationMotion Capture Data + WebGL2017
Using some recorded human movements ( raw motion capture data) I was able to create animated, abstract, geometr ic char-acters, rendered within the Web Graphics L ibrary. Each character i s a r igged model containing skeleton and bones, and is dynamical ly animated by means of Three. js and a BVH motion capture f i le.
The technological complexity of the world around us is increasing day by day and the boundaries of cyberculture are becoming more dif f icult to def ine. I t ’s hard to say where exactly the human ends and the machine begins. I am interested in making technology feel more natural and human, in this case, through anthropomorphism.

Utopian GalaxySonic & Visual Express ion // displayed at Maker Faire Bay Area 20172017
Utopian Galaxy is an exper iment with creative coding in a software cal led Max/MSP in order to make an interactive, sonic and visual artwork. You would put the headphones on and start playing on the piano keyboard. As you hear the notes you are playing, you are also changing the visuals on the screen in f ront of you. We used J itter which also provided us with an inter face to OpenGL. Our dinamical ly generated graphics were rendered in real-t ime onto a video plane and output as a s ingle channel display. The musical component of this project was tr iggered by press ing down on the keys which would lead to sending Midi data to the Max software.

How Close Is Too CloseStatuesque, interactive mechanism2018
In Greek mythology, Phi lotes was a goddess personify ing affect ion, f r iendship, and sex. Within the context of speculat ive f ict ion, I am reconsider ing Phi lotes as a robotic god-dess that is able to interact with humans.
The dif ferent components of this interactive sculpture include: repl icated torso in plas-ter, red traff ic l ight, touch sensor, distance sensor, arduino, and music maker shield.
Her responses:1. Handshake => “Hiya! Nice to meet you.”2. Shoulder pat => “How’s i t going, buddy?”3. Touching the breast => “What the heck are you doing?! What the heck are you doing?! What the heck are you doing?!”4. I f a person’s distance is less than a foot, red l ight turns on.

Recreating Cultural FormsSacred Geometry2018
These works attempt to make vis ible those parts of culture and history that are often neglected, erased, or forgotten. I t i s a revival of art forms that embrace and re-synthesize my cultural inf luences. The not ion to preserve history and culture is what dr ives this computat ional ly informed project, yet i t doesn’t foreground or even overpower the technology. My intent ion is to ut i l i ze technology in a nuanced way, by blending the ancient and modern. The two images on the left display my exper imentat ion with the f lashl ight on a smartphone to see what k ind of effects I can get with laser cut sacred geometry patterns. Everyone nowadays has a smartphone pretty close at reach, so I was interested in having the viewer use this tool they’re already carry ing and make an interactive instal lat ion. The two images on the r ight are my mater ial explorat ions within 3D pr int ing. Moving away from the plast ic f i laments was based on the fact that plast ic is satu-rat ing our environment and causing so much pol lut ion.

Sof twar[e]Exhibited at B4B3L4B Gal lery , Oakland www.softwar.onl ine2018
Softwar[e] is a mult imedia art instal lat ion produced by a col laborat ive team coming together f rom dif ferent parts of the world at the CADRE Laboratory for New Media, San Jose State Univers i ty. The immers ive onl ine/off l ine environment ut i l i z -es v ideo, VR/AR, as wel l as text/project ion mapping to invest igate concepts of control and access to networked informa-t ion. This exhibit ion visual izes an intervent ion into dist r ibut ion of media content, and re- imagines a revolut ionary software movement carr ied out by people against the behavior of tyrannical governing bodies.
I developed the Softwar[e] website and wrote the Manifesto, along with a text-bot, to emphasize on the mult iple layers of f i l ter cast upon raw data. This manifesto interweaves the cultural di f ferences we have exper ienced individual ly within our col laborat ive team. Parts of the manifesto are reformatted into a conversat ional st ructure through the text-bot; enabl ing users to interact with an art i f ic ial intel l igence, intended to resemble the non-chronological st ream of social media content in a more int imate communication platform. The Softwar[e] Manifesto was publ ished in Wired Magazine.

Mendelssohn’s ElijahContemporary Per formance2017
As the lead art ist for this stage production, I created mult iple 3D animations and st i l l image project ions.
Drawn from the Bibl ical episodes of the prophet of the same name, Mendelssohn's power ful orator io E l i jah, i s considered to be one of the greatest choral works of al l t ime. The dramatic story depicts the l i fe of the Old Testament prophet as he struggles to ral ly his people to faith. The SJSU School of Music & Dance's st i r r ing new take on this epic 19th century t reasure gives you an opportunity to exper ience the ful l musical force of a large orchestra and chorus, in addit ion to a stel lar cast of soloists . Complete with digital media project ions, this subl ime piece is further enhanced by The Hammer Theatre's newly instal led Constel lat ion sound system.
