My name is Artur Shamsutdinov. This lesson is for week 1 of Introduction To Music Production at Coursera.org. Today I want to talk to you about Digital Audio Workstations (D.A.W.).
WHAT IS DAW?
A digital audio workstation (D.A.W.) is an electronic device or computer software application for recording, editing and producing audio files

INTEGRATED DAW
An integrated DAW consists of a mixing console, control surface, audio converter, and data storage in one device.

SOFTWARE DAW
Complex of computer software including audio editor and additional modules of sound processing (plug-ins).
STANDARD SOFTWARE DAW LAYOUT
• Transport controls (play, stop, pause, record, etc.)• Mixer• Track controls• Waveform display and/or other analyzers

THE CHOISE IS YOURS
Use whatever DAW you want and which you most comfortable with. There is no such rule for ideal or proper stations. Just have fun working with sound, audio and music!
