Shortly before this time, the first aware artists, theorists and scientists had grouped together and tried, using every available means and knowledge, to create the first exhibitions, festivals, hubs, open calls, online spaces and workshops, such as the web platform International developments in the fields of technology and biotechnology were rapid during the last decade of the 20th century. The world was divided into ’info rich‘ and ’info poor‘ and the immaterial information became one of the dominant goods. The convergence of science, technology and art did not just happen at the dawn of the digital age. It ran throughout the 20th century as an experimental practice, having its roots in Modernism and its origins in the technological breakthroughs of the late 19th century (18401880). For example, artists used electricity, photography, film, video, robotics, electronics and space technology and towards the end of the 20th century they used media, digital technology and biotechnology.
