AllthesetrendsandmovementsarrivedinGreecefromtheWesterncapitals,wheretheywereborn,buttheinterdisciplinaryapproachtoartstartedtowidelyconcernGreekartistsandsomearttheorists,onlyfromthe1990sonwards,whenwecantalkaboutMediaartinGreece.Shortlybeforethistime,thefirstawareartists,theoristsandscientistshadgroupedtogetherandtried,usingeveryavailablemeansandknowledge,tocreatethefirstexhibitions,festivals,hubs,opencalls,onlinespacesandworkshops,suchasthewebplatform
Internationaldevelopmentsinthefieldsoftechnologyandbiotechnologywererapidduringthelastdecadeofthe20thcentury.Theworldwasdividedintoinforichandinfopoorandtheimmaterialinformationbecameoneofthedominantgoods.Theconvergenceofscience,technologyandartdidnotjusthappenatthedawnofthedigitalage.Itranthroughoutthe20thcenturyasanexperimentalpractice,havingitsrootsinModernismanditsoriginsinthetechnologicalbreakthroughsofthelate19thcentury(18401880).Forexample,artistsusedelectricity,photography,film,video,robotics,electronicsandspacetechnologyandtowardstheendofthe20thcenturytheyusedmedia,digitaltechnologyandbiotechnology.[5]
