Digipak•Digipaks typically consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.•Digipak-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums and the tall DVD Digipak•Although less vulnerable to cracking than a jewel case, the disc tray inside the package (particularly the "teeth" of the hub which secure the disc in place) remains rather brittle and is prone to cracking if the package is crushed. Digipak-style cases grew in popularity among record labels and recording artists in the early 2000s.

Vs CD Case• A jewel CD case is the original compact

disc case that has been used since the compact disc was first released in 1982. It is a three-piece plastic case, measuring 142 mm × 125 mm × 10 mm (5.59 in x 4.92 in x 0.39 in), a volume of 177.5 cm³, which usually contains a compact disc along with the liner notes and a back card.

• Two opposing transparent halves are hinged together to form the casing, the back half holding a media tray that grips the disc by its hole. All three parts are made of injection-molded polystyrene.

• They are constructed to into 4 sides, where most of the detail is solely on the front and the back.

Why are Digipaks more valuable

• CD’s are basic and contain less personal detail, Whereas Digipaks consume a more significant relationship with the artist.

• Digipak’s contain higher quality images and meaning in them.

• Sometimes contain bonus tracks, whereas the CD version may not.

• The digipak has 6 sides, therefore there will be more opportunity for visible artwork, information or promotions. This way the artist has a better chance at attracting potential buyers, such as fans, as they will see the digipak as more than just a disc of music, it is a collectable item as well. In comparison to the jewel case, all of this additional information is easier accessible, the sleeve in a jewel case is easily ripped when removed or put back into the plastic grips, making it unappealing to remove. On a digipak all information is very easily accessible.
