DIGIPAK RESEARCH

Sam Smith- In The Lonely Hour

The album has a lot of dark colours on it, most likely to represent that Sam’s songs have a deep meaning to them

The design of this digipak is very simple and not cluttered at all, this could be to preserve the meaning in the song lyrics

The colours are very similar to his website design. The photo of Sam showing him alone coincides perfectly with the name of the album but also shows him as a very soulful artist

His name is in big bold white letters on each part of the digipak, this is to give him exposure and attract the buyer to his album

Sam Smith is an R&B/Soul artist

Taylor Swift- Style

Faded colours to add to the vintage effect of the polaroid

Casual clothing portrays the artist as being down to earth and quite ordinary

Red lipstick directly relates to her as an artist (iconography) but also to some of the song lyrics “I got that red lip classic thing that you like”

The handwritten numbers and letters have a personal feel to them

The fact that it is just her initials on the cover and not her full name shows how famous she is

Ed Sheeran

Bright orange attracts people to the cd, he also has ginger hair so the colour is well associated with ed

All the attention is on ed’s face by him having a photo of himself on the album cover Retro font gives it a vintage

feel

Simple song names

Camera trickery makes it look like ed sheeran is looking at you from every angle
