Are You Looking for a Circle of Friends? A Small Group May Be the Answer. Here at Denbigh United we have several Small Groups and are eager to start more. A Small
Group is a group of 6-12 people who meet weekly or every other week for Bible study/discussion,
prayer, fellowship and service. Deep and abiding friendships can grow in these groups as believers
student Gods Word and support one another. Our existing groups are listed below. If you are interested in an existing group or in being a
part of a new group, please contact Deborah Dail or Tim Jacoby.
Sunday evenings (every other week) from 6:30-8 p.m. This group meets at the church and
childcare is provided. The facilitator is Kristi Spivey, and the group is currently studying
Managing Life. For information, call Kristi at (757) 814-9538.
Sunday evenings (every other week) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This group meets at the home of
Dale and Keith Pennell. The group discusses the Sunday sermons. For more information,
contact Dale Pennell at (757) 303-7762.
Monday evenings (every week) at 7:30 p.m. This group meets at the home of Tim and
Debbie Jacoby. For more information, contact Tim Jacoby at (412) 720-4808.
The Adult Bible Class is taught by Jay Dunn and Bob Young. During the summer quarter the les-
sons will focus on Hope and Confidence Come from God, Living as a Community of Believers, and Bearing One Anothers Burdens. The class meets Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the Conference Room.
The Ladies Discussion Group is studying Where Faith and Culture Meet. This series of six DVDs
and the study book will engage you in Bible study discussion regarding bold ways to discover Gods challenge in each of us - to minister to our culture - and what that means to you. If interested in
joining us, please contact Amy Schmidt at [email protected]. This class meets at 9:15 on
Sunday mornings in the Parlor.
Living as a Committed Christian in the Kingdom in the 21st Century Class
The class, featuring a small group discussion/seminar format, will use relevant Scripture to consider
the implications of how a Christian might deal with such issues as: healthcare, poverty, affluence,
inequality, education, individualism and community, human rights, diversity, violence, the Jesus of
the Gospels, Christian responsibilities, and other issues that might surface or become prominent in
the news. Mike Langrehr will facilitate this class which will meet in the Library. Please join us at
9:15 a.m.

If we bring just one food item every Sunday. . . Some suggestions for THRIVEs pantry:
Canned
Meat
Peanut butter
Fruit Jelly/Jam
Cereal Crackers
Gravy Dry or canned Potatoes
Beans Canned meals (stew, ravioli,
etc.)
Rice Dry milk (individual pkgs.)
Jello or
Pudding
Stuffing mix
Food items should be
canned/boxed/non-perishable
. . . the shelves would never be bare.
THRIVE Peninsula formerly
D.U.C.O. (Denbigh United Christian
Outreach) is in critical need of food
supplies. Each week the need is
greater than the week before. We
thank you in advance for all of your
support. You may bring your food do-
nations to church and place them on
the kitchen counter where they are
picked up and taken to D.U.C.O. each
week.
JUST A

THANK YOU !
Did you miss a recent Sunday at church and
wish you could go back and hear the sermon, or
maybe you were there and are just trying to
remember what was said? Well fear not, you are
in luck! Just go to our website
www.denbighpres.org, look on the left side for
2014 Sermons, and find the Sunday you may
have missed. There are both audio and text
versions for most sermons, which you can
download or stream online. Also, a full
recording of the entire service can be obtained if
you make a request through the church office.
Older sermons are archived and can also be
made available if you are looking for a particular
one as well.

As some of you may know, DUPC conducts a Monday morning worship service at The Gardens at
Warwick Forest four times a year. Please join us on June 30 and September 29 at 10:00 a.m. for
the next services. The Gardens is a Riverside Hospital continuing care facility. Depending on their
physical condition, those in residence may attend the chapel service or watch the live televised pro-
gram from the comfort of their rooms. This month, over twenty DUPC members participated in the
worship service as greeters, in singing, as comforters, and in general support of this outreach. It is a
true blessing to see the impact we have on those who may not otherwise have a worship experience.
Are you interested in helping? Participation in this rewarding effort is made easy. Come and sing,
greet, pass out bulletins, or act as a worship leader. For information, please call Rusty Norton at 757-
414-1092 (C) or send an email to [email protected].
Blessings to all, Rusty.

Joe and Brenda Bender would like to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers from the congre-
gation during Margaret Nickels' illness and subsequent death. We hope you all know how much your
love and support have meant to us during this time. We would like to thank Denbigh United for help-
ing us with supplies such as gowns, etc. We would also like to thank everyone for the many beautiful
sympathy cards, phone calls, donations of food and drink and the Memorial Contributions. We thank
God for being members of such a loving and caring congregation. We would also like to especially
thank Deborah for her visits and a beautiful, peaceful service. God bless you all.
Our congregation contributed $731.17 to the Pentecost Offering. Forty percent ($292.47) will be do-
nated to Menchville House, a local ministry that serves homeless women and their children. This of-
fering supports youth and children at risk and young adults in ministry and mission.
ATTENTION MEN: The 2014 Presbyterian Mens Conference will be held at Massanetta Springs on July 18th 20th. Jay Dunn and Jim Robinson are attending and would love to have other men join them. This is a wonderful opportunity to get away for a weekend of fellowship, worship
and relaxation with other Presbyterian men from churches primarily in Virginia and North Caro-
lina. Speakers include Tommy Burleson, who led his NC State Wolfpack team to the 1974 NCAA
National Championship, as well as theologians of national and international stature. Details about
the conference are available at www.midatlanticmen.org or from Jay Dunn at church or by calling
him at 874-1258. Pilgrimages and retreats have long been a tradition in faith re-creation, so dont miss out on this opportunity.

they will be participating every day in worship, small groups, recreation and
activities. Please keep the leaders and Nimere Smith, Bayley Shefelton,
Stephanie Paul, Sara Marshall, Haley Hafner and Victoria Coll in your prayers.
The Montreat youth and leaders will be commissioned in worship on Sunday,
July 13. Donations for scholarship money will continue to be accepted and ap-
preciated. We look forward to telling you about our trip on Sunday, July 27 in
worship.
