•Different elements added to change properties of brass▫Tin or aluminum

( harder and corrosion resistant)

▫Combinations of aluminum, iron, silicon, and manganese for wear and tear resistance

Brass in Time•Very difficult to make due to melting point

of zinc•Copper was ground and melted with ores

containing zinc•Used in:

▫Jewelry▫Helmets▫Coins▫Church decorations and mirrors▫Clocks▫Navigational aids

•Brazen bull was torture device that took advantage of heat conducting properties of brass

•Set of tubes and pipes could be used to make screams seem like cow sounds
