Different Genres Of Music Videos

Performance• A performance video is just wjat youd think it was. It is where the musoc

video follows the artist whilst they perform their song. This sort of video can vary dramaticly! From being in a white room on their own to a huge performance with hundreds of actors. They dont usually have any form of narrative. From my research ive noticed that this style is more popular with the rock genre.

are watching is the band singing on stage. This sort of music video appeals to audiencebecause it gives them the gratification of feeling as if they are at the concert or watching them live.

Narrative• A narrative music video is where the video is telling a story. Instead of

seeing the artists perform their song is the backing track to a story, usually in the form of a short film. This short story that is told will always represent the songs intentions, so they are most common in songs which are inspirational and are trying to convey a deep message.

the video and is a prime example of a music video with a narrative.

Cameo• A cameo is a type of hybrid between a narrative and a performance. It

usually is telling a story and so has a narrative but often flicks back to the artist performing the song. They often include famous faces in their narrative for promotional purposes.

into more of a performance video whilst still maintaining the narrative throughout the video.
