An RNC always includes an MS. The MS interconnects all other subracks in theRNC and includes all functions of an ES as well as functions common to the RNC

Other changes

TUB's have been moved to slots 2 and 27 in Main Subrack ESL carries user plane traffic between subracksCMXB & ET-IPG replaces ET-MFG. CMXB & ET-IPG connect through the Ethernet switchboard (ESL) on the back plane. ET-IPG in MS can be used for Iu-Cp & Iu-Up termination (refer to MO Structure). ET-IPG in ES-1 & ES-2 can be used for Iu-Up termination, but not Iu-Cp (refer to MO Structure).

SCB - DFSwitch core board - dual feed

• Provides switch functionality (interface toward the switch core).• Distributes system synchronization.• Provides the ISL interfaces for connection between subracks.• Provides power to the subrack, and in some cases to the fan unit.• Controls the nearest CMXB, if present in the subrack. If an SCB-DF isfaulty or is removed from the subrack, the nearest CMXB ceases to workwithin 90 seconds.

CMXBCommon Main Switching Board

The CMXB is a 20-port 10G BASE-CX4 Ethernet Switch that provides eightfront-panel electrical Ethernet ports for user-plane data to and from the subrack,and 12 backplane Ethernet ports for device boards in a subrack.
